Monster Hunt by jk5000

[raw]
made by jk5000 for LD33 (COMPO)
You are a monster, that are fighting for survival.

The game was fun to make but it is not finished.

You can use the left mouse button to move the monster. And you move the camera with the arrow keys, or by holding down the right mouse button down.

Hint: You can rotate the wall with the R and E keys.

It showed a lot of promise but wasn't really playable :(

Controls were difficult, but the idea was there. Did you whistle the sound of the wind? If so very resourceful of you.

I have now uploaded a web version. Fortunately, this version has fewer bugs. Don't know why.

Love the art, and the gameplay is lots of fun. Had some Null Reference Exceptions and reloaded, but loved what I played!

Loved the physics on the stones. I feel the path finding let you down a little because it was often hard to get the monster to do what I wanted. Other than that the game looks really nice.
I had great fun just standing on top of the cliff and throwing boulders down.

It's very hard to target with the stones...
It should be nice to just "eat" them ! ^^

Why those bad peon want to kill me ? I'm a nice monster !

The stone are very hard to target, it should be nice to be able to just eat them ! :p (easier for targeting)

Why those peon want to kill me ? I'm a nice monster !

Nice idea, but it's a bit broken, you could add some more gameplay to this after the compo.

Nice idea but it seemed to be hard to get the monster to defend himself. Lots of potential though!

To bad couldn't touch/grab/interact with anything. The comments really made me want to play! :(

I like it was more of a survival game than a hunt for the next NPC to kill.

Looks like to could be a good game, but it gets very lagy and is quite buggy

1st Thought:
"Is this 1st person view?...wait....there I am."

Pros:
I like the idea of the real time tower defense type thing. The potential is definitely there.
Simple yet effective use of theme.

Cons:
The controls are so awkward. Very nearly makes it unplayable.
I feel like as the monster, you shouldn't be building walls, you should be destroying theirs. They should be the ones defending.

Overall:
I love the idea, however the execution I think missed the mark. Definitely has potential.
I would like to see this further into development.

Nice idea! Unfortunately, yous should have integrated another control for the rock throwing to be fully playable.
Great work though!

Thats a good idea! Maybe little changes could make it even better. The monster is almost the same color of the ground, so it's hard to notice him at first time. Sometimes, when you click at the ground instead plant some structure, the monster move. Maybe the right button of the mouse could be used to plant the structores instead move the camera. Overall, the game seens very nice!

Good idea and very nice graphics, unfortunately it was hard to throw stones so I didn't kill anyone. But still, good job !

I like the idea, but the execution just wasn't there. It was near impossible to hit anyone with the rocks, and it was hard to tell when it was registering your inputs and when it wasn't. The concept is good though, and the graphics are really great for a compo entry.

As others said, the controls are a bit weird (to control the monster as well as using its abilities), but the game is nice overall!

It seemed to be an interesting game, but either the interaction and feedback from the game must get clearer, or the concepts of the game have to be introduced slower. I got to build a wall, threw some rocks at random, but when it was time to aim for the people it seemed like I couldn't throw any more. It does look like the basis for a good game though!

While the game isn't that playable in this state, it has tons of potential in becoming an awesome game! Keep going pal, you're on the right track. :)

Neat little resource-management game, however I fear the monster needs glasses as he just throws the stones without even looking where they should go!

Good idea but I think the time limit may have hindered a bit. Keep going with the concept though, you have something promising :)

Agreed with the other commenters, you can tell there is a lot of ambition and potential here. I really like the concept of the game.
