Karnage in Poupouland by wRadion

[raw]
made by wRadion for LD33 (JAM)
You are in Poupouland, a magical place in the sky (on a cloud) where live Poupous.
But you are so bored of living there that you start feeling angry.
So you just decide to kick everyone from the cloud and let them fall onto the ground.

Commands:
Use WASD or the arrow keys to move.
Use the Left Click to push the Poupous.
Use the Right Click to carry one Poupou, then either click to throw it.
You can use a Poupou to push other Poupous!

This game was really cute c:

I liked the little character with his angry face, and the general happy -> dark aesthetic worked.

However, it kind of had a reverse progression. Because of how the rage meter worked, the less there were on the map, the harder it was to kick them off the clouds as your kick kept getting weaker. So the end game basically meant you had a 30 or so and it was a long grind to finish the game.

Nice idea, though, and again, absolutely adorable. Especially the "Poupulation" bit :)

Really like the graphic style, and kicking random guys off a cloud is very satisfying. Feels like it needs a couple extra mechanics to really make it great, though.

You nailed the graphics and audio design down. It's simple but it all meshes really nicely together and I didn't find any of the sounds annoying or overly tedious. That can be hard to pull off.

The game itself is also enjoyable. Again, very much like the art and audio it's simple but just executed very nicely. A previous comment by ChosenCharacter made a very good point that the further in the game you got the less intense it felt and more tedious it felt. I probably got the crowd down to about 50 or so before I felt like I had seen enough. I'm not sure if there's some sort of end game thing, I may return to it at some point to see.

Oh, also I just started the game and tried to figure out the controls myself. I got the movement down easily but it took me a while to figure out that left click was how you pushed. I didn't realize you could carry them until I read the description. I'd encourage having some sort of little controls graphic or text in-game (on the main menu perhaps) just in case someone dives in before reading the game description.

I loved this! I felt like such a jerk though. You made all the Poupou so cute. Game feel was strong with this one. The subtle camera shake made the throws feel more powerful. I liked all the animations too, like the poupous falling to their deaths. Great job!

The graphics and sound effects make throwing poupous off the cloud feel very enjoyable. I felt like I was playing a simulation of going mad in a public place. I wish there were some challenge, some action or puzzle element, but the core interaction is fun. Regarding the input, it felt strange using the mouse buttons when the pointer wasn't being used.

This game is simple and very nice.

The graphic is so awesome! Specially when people spin when you throw them off the clouds!

I beat the game! Although it felt like I have to close it, I saw the population at 90, and decided to throw everyone out.

Great game!
