Mazeotaur by Killbert

[raw]
made by Killbert for LD33 (COMPO)
Hint: Use chrome silly.
I had an all nighter before I started. I passed out twice first day. I had a 30 kilometre bike ride. And now I have this. There's no actual fail state. You end the game by killing all the victims.

An entry for Ludum Dare 33.

You are the minotaur in a maze. Kill everyone.

Controls:

W - forward

S - backwards

Mouse - look direction

Left Mouse Click - attack victim - must be close.

I recognized the Minotaur from one of your posts! A cute game, I would have liked to see more of your Voxel work showcased!

It is cool to see more and more 3d games in LD but they always come at a price of gameplay and and mechanics. Cool little game! The lighting sets a good overall mood but the interaction between player and civillians(?) should be more clear, maybe a simple particle effect would do.

Yeah, technically I only had 24 hours on this but whatever. I will polish this up and put a new version up when I do. (also leaving the original)

simple sweety game
advice: to create nice mood try to add some sounds and music
also the more effects to players actions (particles on attacks, may-be moving, etc)
good job!

I can't get it to start on IE or Firefox?

Simple, but it works. Could do with a few more mechanics going on.

Nice graphics, a pity you did not have more time to spend on the game. As mentioned by others, I think that some kind of feedback when hitting the victims (and perhaps some evasion behaviour when they spot the large minotaur coming towards them) would make the game more enjoyable.

Quite good game for this short time. Sadly there's no music, and the AI is weird, because the victims are running into you if you standing still, but that's okay for the beginning :)

I like it, but maybe a different camera angle can make this more appealing? Just saying, nice effort in 24 hours, great game.

Controlls feel a little bit weird at first and the lack of audio gives it a bit of a dead atmosphere... but I got into it, shame you didn't have more time to add to it

Very simple, I wish you could strafe left and right, as it was hard to navigate with a track pad.

Very simple but it works as intended.

The problem I have is that there is no reason not to kill everything. Why does the mazeotaur have to kill everything apart from being a monster? Sorry for the questioning.

Strange. I can't kill everybody.

You need to get close to the victims to attack them.

Hahaha the idea of a Pac-man with life and a minimum combat system could become a great game. Nice work

Not a bad game, everything works alright. Nothing spectacular, though.

The idea is nice, but there is definitely a lot of feedback missing. It also took me a while to fiigure out how to attack the people. Seems like you actually have to click on the person you want to attack. This seems rather counter-intuitive, as I tend to have the cursor farther away from ma character for steering.

I liked the atmosphere and the general idea, but with such little gameplay there is not much here to judge! A few sound effects would have been nice to see as well; it would certainly make attacking enemies more satisfying.

A nice, tiny game. I liked the characters, but I would have appreciated some level art and sound. I had an occasional bug with lighting and collision, but it wasn't game-breaking.

Awesome Minotaur, and unique control scheme!

I wish there was a way to see the in-game models better. I think I can see some detail on the victims, but the work you put into it is really hard to see from the top-down view.

Sometimes the lighting seems to flip out, like the red light spreads really far and/or flickers.

The first time I played, I had a kind of scrunched-up zig-zagging area in the top right. The Minotaur could barely squeeze through the corridors, and I eventually popped out of the map, haha. Must have been some kind of bug with the map generation that one time, because the rest of the times I tried, the map seemed pretty consistent and didn't have an area like that. I don't know what I did!

Despite a few bugs, cool game! Hope you develop this further! :)

A nice game although you can tell it's unfinished.
Loved that you used the "minotaur maze" myth here.

Wasn't a fan of "clicking to attack". The game would feel way better if the minotaur auto-attacked victims when within range.

I didn't see many games this LD that played or used mazes, which is a real pity, as I love maze games!

A nice entry given your limited time. Kudos!
