Forest Walk by slam_nine

Forest Walk is a quick 2D side-scroller that can be played through in a couple of minutes. Use arrows to move and explore the deep dark secrets of the forest.


Tools:
Game was developed with love2d.
Music was created with guitar, cheap webcam mic and audacity.
Graphics were done with Krita and Gimp.

Linux version requires love2d to be installed, so the easiest way would be to play it on web.

if you die on what i think is a dog when you retry it doesn't reset the dog and you instantly die upon entering the room,

Beautiful art and game. I really like the style, the mood and the simple "storytelling".
Now of course it is short but still I played it twice just to see what would happen if I didn't kill those innocent ones :) . Well executed but yeah.. maybe too short ;)

Hmmm, I killed the dog, the old man (by accident) and (eventually) the monster but the end game message is 'deathcount: 6'. Nice style and music... wish I'd known Love2D could be run as a web app!

Thanks for playing and feedback @Traf d-Lo! The death count tracks the player deaths, the wording might be too ambiguous. I did the web version with love.js, but love.ulydev.com should be a great way do it too. :)

Like the music and choice to have only red. Couple of weird glitches I noticed:

* Text staying visible after death;
* Repeated prompts;
* Old man could talk from beyond the grave oOoOoOo
* Blood particles when I reentered the dog room after dying.

That old man had it coming anyway.

Haha this game was hilarious! I loved that you can just choose to shoot that poor old man.

Played through it a couple of times to see what I kind of endings I could get. I managed to not shoot the old man and his dog, but the monster was unavoidable.

Great game, I had a lot of fun!

@Geared Games Thanks for playing! I planned a pacifist ending too, where you don't pick up any weapons, jump in the mouth of the monster and get eaten. Unfortunately I didn't have time to implement it in the game. :D

@Seizar Seems like my evil plan of getting the player to kill that innocent little dog worked!

Game leaves very good mood impression. Music and controls are very good. Some gemaplay elements have errors for example still tells me about the bow when it was already taken. It can be fixed and also add more content. I would add more shades or colors to graphics because it is sometimes very good(boss) and sometimes it misses.

I love the black and white look. It is very clean looking and the monster at the end is fantastic. I killed everything, because I am indeed a "monster." This was a fun short game, although I am confused by the gun. Well done.
