Sling Fling by drapple

[raw]
made by drapple for LD36 (JAM)
Use the sling, an ancient form of weapon, to fling eggs at a plush chicken. Score points by hitting it harder, but timing is everything when the egg starts spinning!

This was a solo effort of about 12 hours total. 'Twas a busy weekend, but still managed to crank something out. I thought the sling could be an interesting mechanic. There's probably a more interesting game to base on it, but not for me this weekend! Have fun!

Known issues:
• You can spin the egg too fast and cause physics issues.
• You can hit the chicken with the egg without releasing it, allowing for unlimited points.

It's a decent start, but you should probably have given the sling a maximum length or something to prevent the player from just spinning the egg fast enough to hit the chicken without releasing it.

First time I didn't understand, because I didn't read the instructions. :) But I think this is very simple and good game. Nice job :)

Pretty simple, kind of like the game better when I wasn't attempting to throw the egg. I liked that the camera followed the egg when you threw it up into the sky really high!

Strangely, despite the controls feeling responsive, I felt that the egg simply spun too fast. It would have been nice to see the egg have a maximum velocity so that it would not go out of control.

Super simple game, but for some reason super addictive! I was playing LD games at my friends house and this was the only game he voluntarily joined in. We played plenty of rounds against each other but I finally perfected my technique and he had no more chance against my epic Sling Fling moves :P

His final high score: 745
My final high score: 2680

Awesome game! Proves that physics can make a super simple game concept quite challenging. The graphics are very good, I like the very subtle parallax effect.

Sometimes I lost the egg if my mouse went out of the game window, which is too bad. Also sometimes I hit the head of the chicken, but it didn't register.
