Vermin and Cheese by skiper4e

[raw]
made by skiper4e for LD32 (COMPO)
PLEASE READ:
So the idea of the game is that you are an exterminator who has lost all his equipment and has to trick the vermin into killing themselves with some cheese.
I might have stretched the theme a bit but i think it still fits. Enjoy !

Controls:
up: choose the location of the cheese
left and right : change the location

Cute little game, I was pretty confused on what to do though.

Took me a while to figure out that I needed to hit "up" to spawn the cheese. Once I got that, it seemed fairly clear that I needed to lure the mice to the cats/guy, but predicting where the cats/mice would go was difficult. The sound played when a mouse died needs to be toned down. Finally, it wasn't clear if I'd won or not; was the fourth level the last one? I couldn't progress further than that.

The game is crashing randomly I think. It just freezes out of nowhere.
Good luck with your game, tho ;)

Thanks for all the feedback everybody! I'll tone down the death sound and add a proper tutorial level after the judging has ended since I think changing anything in-game now would be kind of cheating

Doesn't work, something is wrong?

you could use some time to convey the game state result before switching to the next level. mice or cats changing movement or colour then could help indicate what happened (mouse got the cheese/cat got the mouse). are the big mice dogs? good work!

I got past the first level. There is not much audio, or visual cue as to what is happening so it is hard to understand what is going on.

Wasn't sure what we were supposed to be doing. The effects of the cheese were not obvious, or they were inconsistent. Hard to play.

Oh dear, I'm not sure what I should do.
I think I caught the two mice, but I don't get any feedback, the game just stops. If the second mouse is gone, have you beaten the mice?
Are there any more levels?

That background broke my screen ^^. More seriously, it's interesting but hard to understand.

My optic nerves have been cauterized, but I had a really good time. Thank you for introducing me to indigo-violet colorblindedness.
