Hue Jedde by Serena

[raw]
made by Serena for LD32 (COMPO)
Jedde uses her hair as a paintbrush, and paint as a weapon in this endless runner. I originally had plans to make all the game's art in watercolor, but some of it had to be thrown together in Photoshop (but a lot of what you see I actually painted out on paper and scanned in!

Hoping to have an HTML5 ported this week, but I highly recommend just downloading and installing the windows version, it's pretty!

Ok, I gotta say that I enjoyed this one. I'm still not sure that the forgiving life bar takes away from the challenge or make it more fun to play, bu other than that, I enjoyed painting enemies using hair as a paintbrush. Exceptional art and great direction.

I was going to let the kids take a look at this one, but I think they'd freak out with headless Jedde in the game over :P.

Jedde looks good, funny idea to have her hair change colour all the time.
Shame there aren't any critters in the air because Jedde looks pretty baller when she's doing a jump-attack but there's nothing to headbutt up there (So I headbutted all the flying cookies, just in case)

"Well, this is a nicely-drawn, water-colored infinite runner. You can attack unicorns, that's good. The background is trippy. Ouch, those spikeys hurt, and...

DID HER HEAD JUST ROLL OFF!?!?!"

Pretty graphics, and nicely animated. As mentioned earlier, the game is really forgiving, which makes it a bit boring for this player. Still, the overall package is beautiful.

It probably says a lot about me that I didn't flinch or think it was unusual when the head popped off. *shrug* :) Great work!

The artwork really made the game for me. The rest of the game was solid too; nice work!

I really love the graphics! Everything about it scream a lot of cuteness to me ^_^ I enjoyed playing the game too. Great work!

Really loved the art in this! When you paint the angry enemies and they get all happy, it's SO cute!

Though the jump length was pretty difficult with the spikes. Sometimes an enemy was right after a jump and unless you attacked while in the air, and made the jump, you could get hurt by the jump and again by the enemy when in the hurt animation/recovery.

I had some fun with this game, art is very nice too, but I don't know if it is cute or if it terrorizes me :D

Nice job.

Nice looking game, a more visable cursor would have helped.

Looks lovely and the attacking adds a sort of risk vs. reward mechanic to it. The difficulty was pretty good too.

Great game and love that you used GM: Studio to do a non-pixel art game (don't get me wrong, love pixel art based games). The use of the cartoony and surreal was awesome and the had bash was definitely unconventional. I felt like I was watching some kids dream turned nightmare, especially when the head popped off and the body kept walking. Great job.
