Words by Luke Molnar

[raw]
made by Luke Molnar for LD32 (JAM)
Joseph was depressed with life, he used to have a darling wife. Words is about a man who is depressed, and how those with depression feel about the people around them. This is a very 'out there' sort of game which I'm sure many people won't 'get'. But I hope some of you do.

This is actually a very late LD COMPO submission. Originally I wasn't going to submit and then I decided to at the last second. So I can only submit this now under the JAM section, which I'm fine with. This isn't my best work, I spent way to much time in areas I shouldn't have, and I ended up cutting 70% of the game out, so what your actually playing here is just a test environment. But at any rate, I present to you all, my 2015 LD32 game, Words.

I loved the idea of fighting with words :D Although I didn't really understood how to make the depression level go down.
Graphics are great, gameplay is great, congrats !

Really liked the games look and feel, the mood and words felt so real... and that's all the rhyming I gots...

Really liked the mechanic... waiting til the last second to press a button. Gives a rather tense feel in a seemingly relaxed environment.

Good job!

I really like the idea of words as a weapon and the graphics are cool. I was a bit confused about how to control the depression.

This is really, really good. I'd like to produce something like that myself one day.

I found this really tough to play since, like others, I wasn't quite sure how to effectively use the words. It's an interesting topic, and and interesting take on the theme.

For what you have so far, it pretty darn cool. Although i dont know too much about depression but it seems not very cool. Your graphics and sounds, your words and their meanings. Really spoke to me and gave me strange feelings.
So off with you and finish your game, as I would like to come back and play it again. Good luck with this project, I've rated it quite high. Now im off to have lunch with a friend, so goodbye... XD

(In all seriousness this game is pretty cool and more or less emotional, even for someone who has never experienced depression. Great work!! Also I am am serious with getting lunch lol)

Really great concept for a game. I like that you used the mechanics themselves to send a message rather than spell it out. The chalk animated effect was really great. Very solid game :)
