An Unusual Death by Jared Sartin

[raw]
made by Jared Sartin for LD32 (JAM)
--------==== HOW TO PLAY ====--------

Once you have been briefed, click a perpetrator on the bottom of the screen (the male or female characters) and use the arrows to move and space to interact with doors, objects, and attack! Pick up weapons from different sources and swing them at your victim.

Your goal is to solve the murder by trying to reenact it. You will get alerted when you have failed or have solved the scenario. Good luck solving this mystery!

== Story ==

The case files have been re-opened! We are unsure how the murder happened, but with technology, we can do our best to simulate it. Using the images and briefing, choose a possible perp and see if we can solve the mystery.

Notes:
* There is no sound in game - sorry!

It looks beautiful, but I have some difficulties so as to play and understand what I am supposed to do. Maybe a tutorial will be useful. However it's a good prototype. Do you have planned some update soon? Thank you for this entry ++

I chose the big lady and killed everyone with a bowl I picked up in the kitchen. I went to take a bath and slipped and died. I love it.

Art is amazing btw.

I played a few times and wasn't able to "win." But I think the mood and graphics are good. The intro really sparks your interest.

Art is indeed nice and the intro adds to the mood.

The gameplay is an entirely different case though. I have no idea how I'm supposed to get the wife downstairs and the husband to the end of the bathroom (if I remember the pictures correctly). Seems like people who enter it slip even before the wife has dropped the... soap? Some way to view the photos while playing would've been useful. Also needed a button for restarting. It also froze just when I struck the neighbour as the husband with the coathanger.

I'll check back later to see if you get it into playable shape.

The art and animations are fantastic, the intro scene really set the mood as well. Read the issue with the bug, I'll definitely come back to this once it is resolved and play again!

Good idea, need a description of how to play and rather lacking in content though. After "Winning" I fell off the map.

I'm blown away by the art and animation, but it's really unclear what you're supposed to do and how to do it. Would really like to play a finished version of this!

Pretty cool but it is a bit hard to figure out, but it is a puzzle-y type game so that's probably on purpose

Man, art is really wonderful - that almost "bloom" feel is great.

Intro scene was very cool and the idea of recreating the murder scene based on the briefing was unique. Also, amazing visual style! The gameplay fell flat though, a bit hard to understand (the choose a perpetrator part is unclear).

The art is really superb and you have an interesting and original (short) game. Sadly sound and music are missing, as they would made the whole experience more complete. The opening scene, especially the voice-over, is just awesome ;D
