Mutants Must Die by noonat

[raw]
made by noonat for LD32 (COMPO)
Arrow keys to move, SPACE or Z to jump, *HOLD* C or CTRL to punch.

Kill the mutants. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) you can't die. :(

Well, I didn't have enough time to make a test game with Phaser before the compo, and spent too much time learning Phaser DURING the compo, so I didn't quite finish. But I'm submitting none the less, because beating up mutants seems pretty fun.

The idea was that you were in a post apocalyptic world and would have to fight your way through a sea of mutants with whatever items you could find in your squalid dwelling (a ruined lamp shade, a melted spatula, etc.).

I got as far as letting you beat up mutants, but didn't get the house or item weilding, or win state.

Cute graphics, though I can't seem to punch any mutants? :(

I liked how juicy the game is. The explosions and gibs were satisfying, and I liked that I could beat up on a corpse until the skeleton popped out.

It's too bad you couldn't get more in. I think it would have been funny to attack enemies with the bodies of other enemies.

there is hitbox problems, it's very hard to push them and they never kill me. Too bad cause I like the visual design and the colors.

@dyfer I've had a few people tell me that they didn't realize they were supposed to hold the attack button. Tapping it won't actually cause a punch, you have to hold it down.

The AI and the animations are pretty cool, score and die would be a good features to add after the jam, this could be a great game. Good job!

I enjoyed it, even if it currently feels more like a promising engine than a game. You could make a really nice game on that, I hope you'll continue to develop it :) And btw, nice graphics!

Don't know why, but beating up the mutants felt oddly satisfying... I guess it's the weird sensation of having the key pressed down and having the dude do all the work... Sound effects would have likely made it feel way better.

Graphics are decent, concept is cool, too bad you couldn't finish it :(

I like the graphical style and the controls seem pretty smooth. It is too bad you couldn't finish you had a good start here.

Great to see all those skeletons flying.

Nice job, you got quite a bit done considering you were learning a new framework. I like the little details like the exploding sprites.
