Stupid Bird by Orava

Casual exploration, flying, and sword swinging with a tiny story and multiple endings.

A sword may not be unconventional by itself, but if you're a stupid bird it is.

All art and code by myself.
Mainly focused on graphics this time around to un-rust my vector skills a bit.

Personally very satisfied all in all. It's playable and winnable, pretty pretty, and not hugely broken.
If you find any major bugs, let me know with as much detail as possible and I'll get them patched up.

Music by Draytoven.

Walkthrough/Spoilers in case you're stuck:

- Talk to the man by landing next to him.
- Don't give him the sword. You'll need it!
- Find the man's bag and bring it to him.
- Catch bugs.
- Attract fish with bugs.
- Bring the fish to the man.
- Happiness.

eh, it's a bit too empty sadly. maybe if it lasted just a little longer then it would be nice. graphics are pretty though.

i had a great time killing the butterflies with the sword, but i got stuck in the ground after a few minutes of not knowing what to do.

@petey @Blobo I've added a walkthrough spoiler section that should cover all your needs.

@mokujin working fine here on latest Chrome. It may take a bit to load since it's loading in dropbox. (Also make sure you don't start the game muted.)

Holy hells that animation of the flailing bird made me laugh xD

Very nice-looking art, I really dig the style, pretty unique for an LD. Music was very good, and so were the dialogues. Solid entry all around, good luck!

It's really pretty and it's a fun idea. Took some time to figure out what to do and it's quite easy to accidentally scroll past text. Eventually got stuck in the ground.

I think I might have encountered a bug, the first time I played it through I got Helping, Unity by chance, then seeing multiple endings tried to get them all. For some reason though I was unable to get beyond helping? As no matter which option I chose in speaking to the man, it took me to the ending where the man dies. I get the impression that "fly away" in that first conversation is MEANT to let me go get the fish but it just went to the end screen.

Shame because I really wanted to finish it, I liked it.

@The4thCircle Thanks, it should be fixed now. Restarting wasn't clearing a flag properly so it caused the dialogue to mess up.

I spent way too long playing this. it's great. though i gave the man all the fish and the bag at the same time and he didn't want anything else from me after :(

A sword is not an unconventional weapon... unless you are a bird! I loved the mood of this, and helping the lonely warrior was a great turn of story - loved it

Good game. I think that a sword is not an unconventional weapon. Graphs are great! Controls are ok. Multiple ending is AWESOME! Congrats!

I really enjoyed this one! Flying around was enjoyable, the art was fantastic and the music was very good and fitting. I got the "Helping, infinite perching, and friends" ending, which was pretty rewarding to figure out. Very nice work!

It's uncommon to see this kind of game nowadays. I like it. It's like reading a story. Not a fun game, but is a good game.

Solid entry, cool graphics and music. Instructions were quite necessary, otherwise there'd be no way for me to figure things on my own. Still, a good game. Congrats!
