Lets Go Green by Slikker

[raw]
made by Slikker for LD32 (JAM)
Lets go green is a management type game, The objective is to build trees, get resources and upgrade trees to fight off the flame throwing lumberjacks. To win the game you need to upgrade your main tree to max level.. If it destroyed.. you lose...

The vision for our game is to make it multiplayer in the near future, so that you can fight head to head against another player.

Gameplay:
Objective of the game is to get seeds and eventually upgrade your main tree to max level.
You can get seeds by planting trees and harvesting them when they are fully grown.
Be careful though because there are lumberjacks with flamethrowers who want to destroy your trees.

Controls:
Click and drag or use arrow keys to move camera.

This is a great entry!

At first I thought that it was a bit slow, as I was gaining so little seed. But then I realised that I could harvest the trees that I planted and all of a sudden things started moving a long very nicely.

I love games where you have to manage resources and try to strike a perfect balance between upping your economy and making sure that your defenses are strong enough. The game is a bit like a Tower Defense game in that sense.

The visuals are very nice and well done and it all follows the same style, making it feel coherent and polished.

There is an impressive amount of content, very well done!

Neat take on the time management genre. Since all upgrades are available to you at the start, it was a little hard to find what I should upgrade. Although that usually comes later on anyways with tutorials and such.

Nice concept and implementation. Well Done.

Love the idea - it didn't get me hooked, was a bit slow. Read in the comments here that you should harvest the trees. Will try it again later.

great game. took a while for me to figure out left/right arrow keys to move to the defending trees on both sides. once i did that the game suddenly became playable. I would suggest zooming out the camera a bit so that we can see all our trees at once

Nice job! A little hard to figure out what to do, and kind of hard (wish I could buy more upgrades but you need to play almost perfectly to do that), but overall it was decent

Very cool ressource management game. Really hard, havent been able to level up very far. Always get surprised by one wave totally destroying a tree and then I dont see how I can save the day since attacking trees are super expensive. I ll try again though!

It takes a while to learn all the options you have, for game like this, it would be nice to see some short tutorial.
I like the concept and gameplay itself is good.

Nice art, sweet soundtrack even though it doesn't fit that much with the game I think. A bit slow-paced, a tutorial could have been nice as well. Bonus point for using the 2 themes Harvest and Unconventional Weapon.

Good luck!

trees are protecting trees in order to chop them later? that's weird. Anyway, enjoyed playing. It would be useful to show the names of the trees, and their attributes (growing time, value, etc)
I'm not sure if it's me who didn't figure it out, but it's annoying that you cant do anythig after you lost the protectors
