The Day of BEEkoning by ETKWorks

[raw]
made by ETKWorks for LD32 (JAM)
You are the Queen Bee of the swarm. But wasps have just destroyed your hive. Gather you soldiers and workers, its time to take BEEvenge on your enemies!

Made in GM:Studio with a team of 3 people (Programmer, Artist, Musician).

My (and my friends') first Ludum entry ever. Made in staggered increments of time over the course of the weekend due to everyone's time constraints and prior obligations. I think it came out really well though (minus the level design, kinda ran out of time for that).

Hope you enjoy playing it!

Impressions:
Love the Menu Screen. Music is fantastic.
omg, screen number 2. That's way too much info.

Oh, its a hoard control strategy game. That's cool actually.

I don't know who did the art, but I like it.

Super original idea executed very well. The controls were tight too. Good job!

That was pretty fun. I liked having to juggle the two different group of bees. The fact that newly spawned bees follow you arrow also made for an interesting mechanic, and helped me harvest quicker. The graphics and sounds were enjoyable as well.

It's fun. The graphics are very nice, although the world design leaves a lot to be desired.

Concept and overall gameplay are nice but, the how to play screen feels a little bit cluttered and I got a little bit lost in information there. Whenever I see something with a little bit too much info, I tend to skip, even if crucial information about gameplay is present.

I liked the soundtrack, it remembered me of some games I used to play on the SNES and GB and it sets up a nice mood during gameplay.

The art is simple but well made and thought, the bees are cute and I like the Queen Bee's expression when commanding the soldier bees.

Absolutely fantastic. I felt a bit cheated when I lost when I ran out of workers despite being able to make tons. If I'd know that, I would have been mashing that button sooner. Other than that, it was an incredibly enjoyable experience. Great work.

I'll be trying to get a Mac version up soon (if that's allowed anyway). Never actually used the GM Mac exporter before so I'm not sure if I'll be successful with it yet.

Fun game and really well made. It is not that difficult though as long as you are careful.

At first I was pretty terrified with "how to play" screen, but it went better than expected :D Pretty interesting concept, but balance is pretty strange imo. You could just keep your workers behind and spawn warrior bees all the way. Anyway, I enjoyed playing your game!

P.S. Congratulations on your first Ludum Dare! ^^

Found the character moved quite slowly. Loved the game and graphics. Nice take on the theme

I won! For some reason this game lagged like crazy, plus I wasn't super keen on the song, but still innovative design and idea.

Well done. Nice little concept. With a bit of expanding, it could be a great standalone game.

Loved it. But I saw no point in training regular bees? Just train soldiers ftw! :D
