The Goatboy by Ouro17
A peaceful day in hurldogs, a goatherd was taking care of his goats. Suddenly, he realized that a goat was missing and using the sense of a goatherd, he tracked down the goat. He arrived to an old militar stronghold and saw his goat inside a ditch. Without any doubts, he jumped inside to aid the goat but then...
With a creepy yell, dozens of horrific creatures attacked him. Luckily, he found a odd weapon-like thing that had a sea hedgehog inside. Then the goat screamed, he turned around and shot to the monster, that got banished in the air.
Hello, Ouro here. This is my very first game in the compo and the second in my life. The game is set at Despeñaperros, a place in Andalusia, Spain.
I used GameMaker standard edition to build this game. To make the sound I used bfxr.net. Some images are found in the web and the other(guess what ones) are painted by me. The cat image is of my cat.
You have to protect the goat-like-thing at the center of the stage and kill 20 monster in order to win.
Your weapon is a shotgun that fire animals like sea hedgehog or cats. There is ammunition so be carefull and pick the boxes that appears throught the map.
There is a health pack box that can heal your goat, but you must be near the goat to heal her.
Controls:
W - Jump
A - Go left
D - Go right
R - Restart the game
H - Heal the goat
Mouse left button - Shoot
I hope you enjoy this game and have lot of fun playing it.

Shouldn't this be a Jam entry, then? The Compo asks that all assets be made by you in the 48 hours.
But it should be a jam entry, since you used images from the web right?
* Sometimes you don't get health or ammunition for a long time (due to it being placed randomly) which can make it nearly impossible to win these runs
* The movement mechanics are a bit rough, especially around platform edges
* Sometimes the strange guy-like creatures attack the goat from below by glitching into the platform
* It's actually quite hard to make it to the end
* The cat weapon is hilarious
* It seems to be impossible to jump over the walls, believe me, I've tried
Btw, thanks for playing my game too!
Note that I didn't rate graphics as you said that some images were found on the web, so the entry shouldn't be a compo but a jam (I'm guessing you talked about the cat image).
Kind of a hard game, it took several tries to win, but I liked it! :)
A suggestion, though: you shouldn't mix keyboard and mouse controls in a platformer-shooter game like this, because it's confusing. Players would expect that your character would shoot in the direction of the mouse pointer. Either make sure to really shoot in the direction of the mouse pointer, or don't have mouse shoot. This game could be perfectly controllable with a SPACE for shoot.
As you used external resources those are not part of your game maker kit, this should probably really be a Jam entry instead of Compo.
Finally, I must note, this was the only game which could convince me to start up Wine to play it, thus, this is the first Windows-only game I rate. Though next time, please consider making a Linux-native port for Ubuntu gamers like me! :)
