Screwy McScrews by jacobturn

[raw]
made by jacobturn for LD32 (COMPO)
Jacob - age 11 - back for his 5th Ludum Dare entry. The only thing dad is doing this time is the write up. Jacob did the whole game alone.

Tools used: Gamemaker Studio, Tile Studio

Play with the arrow keys and spacebar.

Screwdriver: Screwy McScrews is the hero out to attack the WWII and Dr. Who inspired enemies by shooting spoons. Spoon slinging is hard when you are a screwdriver with no hands, so the spoon firing mechanism can be difficult to control. Can you make it to the end?

(Dad is trying to make his own entry in Unity - ha ha ha...)

Good job. You did better on your level design this time. Gamemakers collisions are still weird, I think it might have to do with the small sprites.

Impressive for someone your age. A tip for the next one: I didn't immediately recognize the thing you have to get to as the goal you have to get to. A sprite more like a tunnel or a door might have been better. Or maybe a ridiculously large screw?

It was good, but I also ran into what I assume were problems with collision, where movement was slow in some places.

That was fun - a classic maze, monsters, and hero game!

I definitely think this is your best game so far! I really enjoyed the shooting and the maze design. I'm not so sure about the manji symbols on the last level though. ;D

The things you can improve in the game is that you move more slowly down then in other directions. The otherthing that could use some improving is the collision. Otherwise this is a good entry froom someone your age.

Very smooth motion. Loved the little "Daleks". Good to see you try to put your dad in his place (coming from a dad whose daughter beat him last time she competed).

Keep up the good work. Very impressed with how well the controls worked.

Nice game.
Hey, go on and take part in LD for the next ten years, you'll be an unstopable game making machine :)

Going back to when I was 11, I wish I could have spat something out like that, I didn't start until I was 15'ish. Very impressive for such a younger starter. Keep it up and keep prodding ya dad to get stuff released on time. ;)

LOL! I wondered why my shovels were flying everywhere... then I read the instructions and realized I was throwing spoons with no hands. Now I get it. :)

I tried to pick up the exit before I knew what it was. Enemies walking through walls was a bit weird, but I made it to the end! :)

Tell your dad I scored your game higher. Haha! ;) Keep it up!

Good overall, and very nice clearly drawn graphics. Could use some improved collision detection. Great work!
