Solar Swing by TheMessiah

[raw]
made by TheMessiah for LD32 (COMPO)
The point of the game is to get as much score as possible before your hp reaches zero. You can use your forcefield to block bullets and destroy enemies. To replenish your energy use gravity to gain speed.

Controls:

W - Accelerate

S - Decelerate

A/D - Turn

Space - Activate Forceshield

Shift - Activate Speed Boost

Scrollwheel - Zoom in/out

P - Pause the game

M - Mute the game

IF THE GAME DOESN'T RUN (and you still want to try it):
Downloading .NET 4.5 and/or XNA redist might fix it.

After many failed attempts scored 7000 points) Controls are fun when you get used to them. Disliked the music and often hangs on game over (hence, no fast restart).

Nice concept! Really interesting. Controls were very tough, but once I started to get the hang of it, it was a good deal of fun.

Really cool idea and mechanics. It crashed when I went back to Firefox to reread the instructions ~_~ but was fine when I restarted it.

Interesting gameplay. Maybe you should add more ways to win points. Because rushing into the ennemies is a bit weird. You could turn the gravitational energy into ammo for plasma guns or stuff like that.

So I think there's a lack of something to make it perfect.
Anyway, it's great, the graphics are more than correct, and the souns are quite enjoyable.

Good job.

This was really a lot of fun for a 48 hour game! The controls were hard to get a handle on, but one I did I was able to get a high score of 53000!

The song was good, but it was a shame about the looping.

I like the concept but found navigating a bit awkward. Zooming out at faster speeds might have made it easier to deal with. Anyways, you should keep working on this - good work!
