The Panda Shoot n Scoot by ErikU
Hey, thanks for checking out my third Ludum Dare entry. This one is called "The Panda Shoot n Scoot".
For this one I wanted to focus on learning some of the more advanced features of Unity. It meant the game had a high amount of time spent on the art - in fact, only the last few hours were spent on gameplay. Some features used include physically based shading, image effects, LOD, and Mecanim.
Objective:
The goal of the game is to destroy the metal pandas in the map by throwing seeds at them that sprout into bamboo. You'll need to chase them all down through the bamboo forest.
Controls:
Move - WASD
Shoot - Left click (after picking up the bag)
Considerations:
- The graphics settings can be pretty intense, so only choose Fantastic if you think your computer can handle it. If it starts to lag, you may want to turn down the settings.
- If you throw too many bamboo sprouts in the same area, the game might lag hard.
- There's an Easter egg out there - you'll know when you find it.
- The WebGL build complains of being out of memory. Sorry Chrome users! If you play the web build using the plugin, be sure to go full screen (right-click > Go Fullscreen).
Thank you very much for playing, and I hope you enjoy. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

The game ran fine until I over did it with the shoots in too small an area and it slowed down a bit.
also interesting use of the unity default shader to make metal pandas. I didn't realise my graphics card could render that many bamboo shoots at once... and then I jumped and the world was way way larger than I thought it was.
if you paired up with an artist I could see you making some pretty fun/whimsical games
Running through the bamboo really feels intense though!
You should lock the cursor. Look for CursorLockMode in Unity.
