Duke Newton by ionbattle

[raw]
made by ionbattle for LD32 (JAM)
With time to spare we'd like to present our first game ever: Duke Newton! It's a physics based, local multiplayer shooter where your only weapon is a gun that fires a gravity well. Try to throw your friends inescapably into one of the 4 randomly generated planets in the play area.

Controls:
Arrow keys+Space and WASD+Shift

To fire the gravity well you hold the fire key and when the bullet reaches you point you would like to spawn the gravity well release the fire key.

We had a really amazing time making this, it was a truly incredible experience.

The BGM was nice but what about more audio?

Fun, would be nice if you could bounce around longer before resetting after hitting a planet. More use of gravity =) Good job.

I liked the idea(I made a very similar but slightly different game in my previous LD) and the gameplay seems nice. Unfortunately I did not have a companion to play with so couldn't test it out for real. However I think I can still understand the overall gameplay. The controls felt awkward at first but I got used to them. Also I'm not sure how challenging this game is because you can kind of go in circles and avoid bullets because they do not move very quickly. Anyways, overall I thought the game was pretty cool. Good job!

Gravity as weapon is funny!

Why are the controls in such uncomfortable places? For 2 players there are more comfortable layouts, maybe switch shift and space...

Cool Concept, Gravity Wells seemed a little weak.

CowShark: We ran out of time for the audio, we definitely plan on putting in sounds for gun fire and thrust, as well as animations for thrust.

Dining Philosopher: That's a good idea, we're planning on adding controller support later as well.

bubblemapgaming: I think you may be right. We'll crank that up when we spend some more time balancing the gameplay.
