Roman Defence by KitiJenGames

[raw]
made by KitiJenGames for LD36 (JAM)
Roman Defence is a retro arcade style tower defence game. You play a Roman defending your town from escaped beasts.

This game was designed and made over a weekend for Ludum Dare Game Jam 36 using Scratch to make the game, and the Android apps Pixel Art and PixiTracker to create the sprites and the music.

The Scratch file was converted to Flash using the converter at http://junebeetle.github.io/converter/

This is the first game the team has made together.

very nice pixle art, the music composition was also good.
with more improvement this can be a great defence game.

also if you can do that with scratch im sure you can do it with any programing language.

i started with flashpunk, but today i suggest phaser for web games/mobile(or unity).
contact me if you need any help with that.

very nice for a first project.

Very good. Sometimes a spear doesn't launch from the soldiers hand, it launches from some other (previous?) position. I liked the super-spears idea, well done!

Love the shield on the main character! I included it in my compilation video series of Ludum Dare 36 games, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/hC8B45eG0n0

Cool game :D
I reckon if you sped up the spears and movement it would feel even more satisfying!

I really like the animals that attack your village, good job in general, hopefully we'll see more games from you!

Fun game but after a while gets repetitive. Maybe more significant spike in difficulty could help make game more engaging. Still game is entartaining and fun to play, pixel art is decent and music fits well.

BTW: as @Traf d-Lo said before, there is a bug where spear launches from previous position. At first it was annoying but actually player can use this as advatage sometimes :D

I'm really sad because the game didn't work for me. :( The arrow keys wouldn't move the soldier. But I can get the concept of the game from what I saw, and I do like the simple guarding concept! And the pixel art is super nice.

We played your game on stream too, which you can view in here: https://www.twitch.tv/cantgetourname/v/87128748

I know I played it already, but I played it again in my compilation video series of Ludum Dare 36 games specifically highlighting the Plymouth Game Dev community, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/D52bOrYl0Fg

It wasn't very clear to me where the spears came from, they seemed to spawn somewhat at random from the soldier's general vicinity, and holding down the spacebar made the spears disappear mid-flight.
The game does get a bit repetitive after a while, as does the music, but it's a solid first game. Keep it up!

Music is good, But it is difficult to get the game.. spears comes not from hand of the roman. Also if a lion crosses over a house some another house gets destroyed..you can more variations in the game to get it intersting to play
