Bomb Your House by rohtie

[raw]
made by rohtie for LD32 (JAM)
In order to protect his house from getting sold to some weird dude, he has to take matters into his own permanent marker.

Bomb Your House is a game where you use a permanent marker to draw on everything.

25 min of me having fun with the game: https://vimeo.com/125558960
Post mortem: http://ludumdare.com/compo/2015/04/21/update-4-bomb-your-house-post-mortem/

If you try my game, I would super happy if you could submit a screenshot of your creative vandalism!

If you have a tablet, use it! It makes for an even better experience!

NOTE: I forgot to put in a way to exit the game from within the game. But there are alternative ways: Just press alt+F4 when you are done.

Please let me know if there are any problems running the game.

This is my first LD. I was originaly going to submit the game to the compo, but realized I did not have enough time, so I jumped on the jam wagon, and I am glad I did.

This is also my first time using Unity. I had a few dozen wrestling hours with the engine, but I finally got stuff to work the way I wanted to.

I pretty much used half of the time on programming and the other half on modeling, painting and recording.

If I had another day, I would create an outro for the game, showing shocked adult faces. Additionally I would fill the bathroom with small bathroom related items, to make it feel even more real.

I am considering making this into a fullfledged game where it is possible to walk around the whole house and draw on stuff.

Tools: Unity (using Boo) -- Sublime Text -- git -- Blender -- Photoshop -- Audacity

Could you upload the source somewhere, like github? I'd like to see how a Unity game made with Boo looks like.

Really fun idea, the only thing I did not really like was the fact the camera rotates with the mouse while you are also drawing with the mouse. I'd rather had that you could lock the camera in place and then draw. Fun interpretation of the theme! Good job. (:

This is insane!
Played it on my tablet and had so much fun putting marker everywhere!
We really need a version with the full house and a scoring system x)

I have a lot of games to try, but I will surely come back to hit in a few days and post some screenshots of my works of art! =D

The mood is great, the little intro is really nice and tight. Well done! And thanks for this nice surprise!

This is crazy! :) I love the idea behind the bombing. It gives - I dare to say - some depth to the game :) Not to mention really astonishing drawings at the beginning!

This is so awesome. I only wish there were more areas to walk around and draw in! Great idea and nice little intro haha

I drew dicks, satanic worshipping devil stuff, and all of that stuff. I think everyone else did too :^). Even topped it off with something like "This toilet will talk." Not very fun as it stands with no goal, and I'm not sure how you could ever tie in a goal that is anything but reactions to what you drew, I think everything else stands up though.

Funny game and nice intro graphics! An ending would certainly help, as would sound.

Not much gameplay but the idea is nice.
The controls are very fast, I can't make things look nice (propperly drawn dongs) :(

yeah great great great great !

I had a lot of fun with this one
It would indeed be nice to have the whole house to draw shit all over it
What would be great too is to have other options to vandalize stuff up (like letting the water run everywhere and break stuff in total rampage mode)

It's an original idea, and I had some laughs playing it, but the controls are a bit off. It would have been better if you could look and draw individually instead of at the same time. I had a lot of fun though :)

Really, REALLY fun! Got some good laughs from it doing random stuff! although a bigger room might've made the game less claustrophobic and allowed more space to play with. Good job!

clever, though my lack of drawing ability becomes more apparent. I think it would be nice if you had muffled audio coming from the hallway of the house as potential buyers walk through. ""oh this is such a lovely and clean house" etc. That would give a greater sense of presence and pertinence to the act of drawing on the walls.

A neat idea, 5/5 for theme! Some issues I had with the game were that the mouse sensitivity (Windows) was way too high, and the mouse cursor wasn't captured in game so as I spun around my mouse would leave the game window.

Adding a character model to the mirror reflection and some sfx would have really improved the mood, too.

All in all, a fun LD entry. :)

I don't hate against people that say lol, it's just simply not something I say, mainly because usually when I would want to, I'm not actually laughing out loud.

This game made me lol so hard my wife asked what the eff was wrong with me.

So, there is a deep story behind it. The guy is angry that his house will be sold and paints it over with some strange marks. But look at the mirror. He can't see his own reflection, so we can understand that he's a ghost. That actually explains the fact he can easily draw on ceiling and wall that are far away. But what's the story of this ghost? May be he lost his family here and now he's trying to draw they faces on the walls?
Hehe, ok, sorry. Great game, I had some fun, but camera movement could be slightly not so fast. Nice entry.
