Battle of the Blades by MacDocBros

[raw]
made by MacDocBros for LD36 (JAM)
We are two brothers (12 and 15 years old) that love to make games.

This is an arena-like game. Arena contains machines (moving walls and platforms), so there's technology and the characters are ancient, so it suits the theme.

In this game you battle a random wave of enemies, while random machines are set off to make gameplay harder or easier.

This is the best game we've made so far. If you like it, please show us some support:

Pretty fun. The character models are nice and the cutscene when you win is a nice touch. I like that you get two weapons, but I found the bow aiming too sensitive.

Wow, great visuals. AI is a bit dumb, but still better then nothing. Two weapons are very handy to fight on different distances. Would love to see more obstacles and platforms, game will be more dynamic. As @ReboundGames mentioned, cutscene is a killing feature.
Looking forward to future improvements! :)

Awesome game. Could do with adjustable sensitivity.

I really loved the visuals. I agree that it would be cool if the enemies had feedback during damage.

Hi, nice game and congratulations ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.

The game overall is great , but just a couple of side notes : when you aim with the bow the sensetivity is suddenly harder which makes it way harder to aim , the game is too short , would have been more fun if just played until you died (survival mode) , but other than that the game is great , graphics are amazing and gameplay is fun

Pretty funny but you can just simply mash the button when bow is equipped and you get something like machine gun. Overall the sound is good, movement could be better but still kinda fun game. :)

The animations were nice and fluid and fun which I liked. Felt like circle strafing with the sword worked out best for me. Would have liked to have seen more props and detail in the arena and maybe some varying AI to play against. :) Great job guys!

Great visuals and animations! The only thing that I kinda missed was the possibility to change the input sensitivity in the settings, but overall a really fun game!

The art is cute and the variety in the animations certainly adds to the atmosphere. I was not particularly good at it and I died a lot in hand-to-hand combat.

I think its difficulty was sort of artificially increased, at least for me, because I found it really hard to tell when I hit an enemy. If that was fixed somehow (e.g. there was a particle effect or enemy healthbars or something) then I would probably have more fun. :)

The only other thing that I think would be good is sound effects / music.
