Temple Build by Bioloid

[raw]
made by Bioloid for LD36 (COMPO)
Build an ancient temple, and watch as your followers turn up and throw money at you!

Controls:
- Left click to place
- Z and X to cycle through blocks

The ancient technology here is the building materials - columns, roofs etc.

The plan was to add enemies which turn up and fire catapults at your structure (another ancient tech!) but time is not my friend :/

This is my first entry to ludum dare, and my first time making a "game" (you earn coins so it must be a game right? right?!)

Edit: some sounds now in :)
Also yes, the sounds do work, you just need to say "BOOM!" every time a pillar hits the ground (and preferably shake your screen a little), and "Ka-Ching" every time you see gold coins. Knocking the table to produce an ancient rhythmic ritual song will further improve the immersion.

I had plenty of ideas for how this could go, including
- you need to pay for the building blocks
- enemies turn up and attempt to destroy you structure
- there are special monuments which please the gods, but if you favor one god too much the others will get angry and try to destroy your temple

But school work abounds! I probably put 4-8 hours into this, I'm pretty happy with how it went :D

Tools:
- Unity3D
- Paint.Net

Doesn't crash on Windows 10. A surprisingly fun concept! Art style is nice and reminds me of similar games like Tiny Tower. Good work!

Step 1: Build a huge temple.
Step 2: Build a large column on one side and let it fall.
Step 3: Enjoy the destruction.

One of the best games I played so far.

When physics is involved, there is always a need to mess around with it. Basic human reflexes. 10/10 :D

Very simple game, but nicely done. I love the way you handled the theme, which is awesome. There are few little things that disturbed me from game. First one was sounds, which is provisional i hope? :) And the second one, a minor one, I really wanted to see some death when the block hits the people down there :D Thanks for the game. Awesome!

Really cool game, I like it! Heres a list of feedback:

The file player_win_x86.pdb and player_win_x86_s.pdb in the unity folder can be removed. These are just for debuggin.

escape to quite?

Would be nice with ingame control instructions.

Scroll the screen with wasd or arrows?

I would like more different forms on the part, something square like, shorter pillars, and a smaller roof top. Would also be cool with some kind of statue.

Also it might be interesting to randomly give the player a limited number of parts(3-5), to make the game harder and varied; limitations leads to creativity :)

With more parts and a little of survival mechanics I can see myself spend a lot of time with this game. If you continue to develop the game let me know :)

Had fun trying to build some crazy temples and watching them come crashing down. Nice first entry so congrats on finishing your first game. Looking forward to seeing more in the future.
