Hitchhiker's Tales by Tangible Games
“Happened t' me once't in the Chihuahuan Desert... Saw ‘em saucers with my own eyes!”
- Hitchhiker in a red shirt
In our entry you play as a lonely traveller on a roadside somewhere in the desert. There's a grave danger (aliens) and you must survive, but alas you have no weapons whatsoever...
Well, then grab what you can and show 'em alien bastards what Earth is all about!
Move with cursor keys, grab and throw stuff (including enemies) with the spacebar.
Use double jump to your advantage (more speed = more damage to your throws).
Defeat all aliens on Earth to win!
------------------
If you are seeing error messages like "missing OpenAL32.dll" and are unable to start the game, install libraries from the folder "Install this first".
------------------
OS X version is here!
Also a version for Android without touch support. If you have an Android device with the keyboard connected (an Android mini PC or something), you may enjoy Hitchhiker's Tales. With the mini PC you can play it on your TV!
And finally, we have added a post-jam version for Windows without alpha channel glitches on sprite edges.

One tip for people who will want to beat it: use precisely aimed double-jump throws, they are an aoe weapon. As well as various objects, when used on tightly packed groups of aliens.
Anyway, the game and looks great and plays very solid.
Loved it. Really a lot of fun, and a very funny concept.
Only one minor thing I wished was that the audio was a little more fleshed out.
But that definitely did not detract from the enjoyment, and it was really great. The art! So good!
Maybe I just suck at this game, but it seems almost impossible to beat. On my best tries I still have ~30 aliens left when I run out of stuff to throw.
I think one of the most difficult parts of the game is getting used to the throw trajectories. It not only changes with your height, but also with your momentum. I wasn't really able to get far in the game until I realized you could grab the aliens themselves, double jump, and instantly kill them on the drop! For me, that kind of rendered the whole "pick up objects and aim them" thing obsolete for me, because now I was just throwing aliens wherever and killing them one at a time.
I really like the idea of throwing the things around you, though. It would have been nice to see objects thrown from a higher distance have a bigger AoE impact on the ground, or be able to see projected trajectories of objects, or even just the ability to throw objects straight down beneath you!
That said, I really appreciate how smoothly all of the action happens. From the movement to the object throwing, the physics of the game are really nice feeling! Also, I was really hoping there'd be chihuahuas for me to throw at the aliens :b
Nice work you guys :D Love the game!
I like being able to grab everything, even though the most efficient way of killing them was to grab one, double jump and throw him back to his fellow friends.
The graphics are good, especially the background. The whole stuff is polished.
One little minus though: You don't really know at the begining how you're supposed to kill the ennemies. I spent like 10 sec trying to figure out what was the key to fire a gun, and then I realized there was none.
Good job :)
It took me a few plays to figure out that staying in the air as much as possible was key. Pick an alien up, double jump, throw to kill. Try to take out another alien if you can. This is a game that knows what it is and does it well. Good job!
Overall it feels polished, and it was fun to kill those pesky aliens by throwing just about anything under hand at them. Can't get beyond "38 aliens remaining" though.
I'd suggest the following : Throwing aliens themselves should kill them in one hit just like with other objects. And even with that it would still be unbeatable methinks.
Good luck with this entry.
Nice graphics and the UI has a a wonderful retro feel to it.
