Boxatons by Avon

[raw]
made by Avon for LD36 (JAM)
Boxatons is a game about boxing automatons.

Instructions:

You control the left player. The goal is to knock off the head of the other player, so aim for the head, but protect your own. The health bars at the top show how close the heads are to falling off.

Controls:

Use WASD or arrow keys to move player forward/backward and rotate up/down. Press Space to toggle stance. Press LMB or Left Ctrl to punch with right arm. Press RMB or Left Shift to punch with left arm.

Gamepad should work, but you have to figure out the buttons yourself. You can change the button assignments in Unitys input menu.

Update:
-Fixed sound bug.
-Minor AI improvements.

Known issues:
-Arms sometimes get stuck in wrong positions, but changing the stance or
punching with that arm should pop it back.

This game looks great. It isnt too complicated and is a cool idea that is very appealing. I enjoyed the uniqueness of this game and how creative it was. Overall it was a very great game. 10/10 would play again.

Easy to play, but pretty hard to win the fight! And it's a very good looking game! Nice music, the mood is really cool ;) Good work!

Fairly easy, but still incredibly satisfying. If you looked at Rock-em-Sock-em robots and thought they should be on wheels, this is the game for you!

This game was absolutely fantastic! I had so much fun playing it! There isn't much you can improve on this game, other than that it was a bit short, but time constraints, I get it. The controls are a bit weird though if you're using the keyboard, but the option to use the mouse is nice.

@RubiksJr Thanks!

I found it easiest to play with WASD and the mouse myself.

The next thing I'd have improved if I had time would be to improve the AI and add difficulty settings to it, so you could meet gradually harder opponents. I couldnt work all saturday, if not I might have been able to do that.

Veery short and very easy game. some more gameplay mechanics and better art would have helped to make it a feel a little more hard/engaging. This way I was just holding right mouse and spamming left to win.

I really like it. It's really cool how you can change the hand you're blocking with using space, and the AI is pretty smart so it's not so easy to beat it. The damage system is very good aswell because the higher the velocity of your fist is while hitting the enemy, the higher the damage will be. I would definitely want to see the full release of it (if you're going to make one).

short and sweet, it was strange at first and due to learning mechanics I got my face beat it a little bit. but you better believe that once I figured it out I came in swinging. I became quite invested in my green robot and really enjoyed switching up my stances to defend and attack. My robot arm did occasionally get stuck on himself and i couldn't quite get it unstuck. otherwise great game

Kinda reminded me of Gang Beasts a bit. Cool music and setting - a bit hard to read the font at the top. I think what others were saying about difficulty settings is a good idea - whatever my technique was I was terrible at this :p

However - loved the controls, used a combo of keyboard and mouse. Really well done!

Wow, this was strangely satisfying. The pummeling was verrrrrry fun, I really liked the feeling, of the fists, and stuff.

After a third play, I realized that the easiest way to beat the opponent is to maintain both arms in front of you, and going back and forth on him. Since the you always have your' gard up, the opponent almost can't do anything. Quick and easy ^^

This is funny and unique. Gave that Gang Beasts ragdoll punching feel, albeit it might be harder here (or I just suck at it). The AI was very good, changed according to my stances. Very cool overall.
