Colour Code by Thomas Yau

My sumbmission for my first Ludum Dare! Get to the end of the levels whilst shooting coloured turrets! Enjoy!

This was a good opportunity to learn Unity and C#. While it was frustrating for a large portion of the time, I think overall, the experience was incredibly enjoyable.

Note: Due to some camera issues, some graphics may be skewed.

The key strength of your game is the idea behind. I found it very original and it has a great potential. If you're willing to continue working on this game then by all means do it, because the mechanics are very interesting.

The two things that, I think, darken the board :
-> Controlling the gun is very hard with those keys. Allowing aiming with the mouse would definitely be handier.
-> Either the level is too long, or the character isn't moving fast enough. Walking through that very long corridor each time you die feels like some kind of Shaolin training for patience. ^^

But this is a great work, considering you had no prior experience with Unity and C# (If I understood correctly).

I wish you best of luck with your entry !

Thanks! Yes you are right, it was my first experience with Unity and C#. I agree with you on the shooting controls, unfortunately I couldn't work out how to manage that in the time period. I've also had other people tell me about the speed being too slow aswell, so it seems that's a real issue.

As others have said, the controls are very difficult. Allowing some sort of strafing is a must (aiming in a different direction than walking).

Great first game though!

The controls are difficult to get a hold on and are not very intuitive. However, I think that the idea of the game is very creative and has alot of potential.

The core mechanic is very interesting, using the right weapon for the right enemy. I wished there was more variety, however, and the number of hits it took to kill the enemies was too much for that early in the game. A bit of polish and variety could make this into a really cool game.

Rather difficult, tricky controls.. I agree that mouse may have been better for aiming. Still very well implemented though, nice job!
