Exhaust by FiendFodder

[raw]
made by FiendFodder for LD32 (JAM)
Rescue the Humans. Avoid the Aliens. You have no weapons. Except maybe...

Rotate Left: Z
Rotate Right: X
Thrust: Space

(There is also minimal support for touch browsers. Tested on iPhone/iPad. I will add on-screen touch buttons later)

A lot went right here (physics, particle engine, human behavior, world viewport scrolling radar), but a couple of key items which didn't get completed in time (enemy return fire, destructibility of ground objects, zone scoring / refresh) are holding the difficulty & level progression back from where it needs to be. I will polish it up post-contest.

Definitely unconventional, haha.

Keep working on it. I can see potential in it. Might become a nice retro-styled thing. The game is already looking good. For now, not much happens but flying around and destroying weak enemies. Oh and due to my german keyboard the movement is inverted.

Scanner could really do with a bit of transparency. It's hard to avoid things when you are behind the scanner.

I... I should have guessed that the exhaust was the unconventional weapon. I enjoyed the classic feel of the game.

Excellent little game! I really enjoyed the old vector graphics style, and the gameplay matches it perfectly (down to he irritatingly difficult landings <_< ). A really impressive game you've made, I hope you get more votes in time!

I found the art style consistent, functional and clean. The gameplay was also pretty complete. I don't think I'm the target audience for this sort of game, but it was a solid entry.

Very very retro, so I very very like. Also very very old school hard.
I must admit I did not have the patience to try to win the game.
I found it a bit hard that the steering was on the left hand.

But overall very nice.

Nice entry, I reminds me of Lander, but it's way more fun to play! :)

Damn, this was so much fun to play. You nailed the classic arcade style and the controls were calibrated perfectly. Keep it up!
