Super Worm Fanning by ForeignGuyMike

[raw]
made by ForeignGuyMike for LD32 (COMPO)
You're in a pink cloud abyss with falling worms. You must blow them off your cloud as quick as you can.

technical:
coding - java + libgdx
art - aseprite
music/sfx - magical 8bit plug

Controls:
arrow keys - move
X - wind attack
C - super wind attack (must be at 100% charge)

Details:
- Timer counting down. When it reaches 0, it's game over.
- Knock the worms off the cloud.
- Killing worms gives you more time, but the longer the worm is alive, the less time it will give.
- Worms getting blown will lose balance. The more you attack them, the easier to knock them back.
- Getting worm kills in quick succession will grant a combo bonus to your score.
- Score is your exp. After getting a certain amount, you will level up.
- Leveling up allows you upgrades, but also makes the worms harder to kill.

Upgrades:
- Extra monsters: The wind will hit 2 more monsters. (default is 3)
- Wind Power: makes your wind attack stronger
- Charge: charges up the super wind quicker
- Charge Power: makes the super wind attack stronger

Personal Best:
275,713 points using a full wind power build

I chuckled more than a couple times at the premise. The gameplay was a little thin; I'm not sure it's useful at all to move left or right, or to get any upgrade but straight wind power. I enjoyed myself, though, and the game was fairly polished and a good length for the format.

Cool idea and great aesthetics.
Could use some more variation because it feels like you just spam a lot but I enjoyed it while it lasted

Also got 305907 with charge+power.

fun and good game. Made 165K score.

But i think the game should have a way to loste instead of just counting score over time. Cool on every side.

234370. A friend would really like to see it on his smartphone. It was really fun at the beginning, but slowly it loses its initial surprise, maybe adding new type of actions? But yeah! A really solid gameplay!

My score: 227273, I always upped my charge speed. Anyway, very fun/addicting game and mechanic! Would be fantastic with a little audio.

Very different kind of game. What made you think of keeping warms off of a cloud? hah!

@jmborden
It was a graphical restraint. I wasn't up to making detailed sprites. So I thought, worms man, they're like rounded rectangles. Not so bad.
