Material Exchange by ianb96

[raw]
made by ianb96 for LD32 (COMPO)
Swap two materials with each other to complete physics-based puzzles!

*Instructions*
Use WASD to move and the mouse to Swap materials. Escape brings up the menu and M unlocks the mouse. Press Shift to run and Control to crouch.

I had plenty more features that I would liked to have added, and it needs more levels, but here is my submission for LD32!

Play this in a browser besides chrome for the latest version!

Thanks for all the great feedback! I might just do a post-comp version with tons more levels, more materials, enemies, and modifications to the mechanics.

Some swaps break the physics. The game was too easy. Even the highest mouse sensitivity felt too low. A material swapper is not really a weapon. I'm sure, that with a little more time you could have made much more interesting puzzles and none of the glitches were game-breaking. All in all not too bad. I'd love to see a post-compo version of this.

Extremely cool, I deeply enjoyed it. Maybe the puzzles are a bit too simple? But then again, cool concept!

Nice idea, but puzzles were too easy and walking speed was too low.

Alright. This has potential to be a great game. With harder puzzles, more mechanics, and a better first person controller it could have extreme post-LD potential. Keep it up!

What an interesting idea. You hit the theme on the head. I found myself clearing the puzzles pretty quickly. In the future, I could see you adding enemies that you can material swap.

This is a very cool concept. I enjoyed playing it. I think some things I would change about it though, I would make the player move faster, and I would make the surface that hurts you stand out more.

This is a really cool concept. We also made a first person puzzler, but this idea is really cool. Nice concept, the First Person controller needs a bit twering but I love it! Keep this game in progress!

I really like the concept.
The controls could be a lot better, the sounds too.
I don't know if it's on the spot of the theme, but anyway is a clever concept, and can be worked to a full game. Nice job.

A really interesting concept, but the puzzles weren't very thought provoking. Movement felt way too slow. The idea is great though.

Cool idea! You did very well with the time allowed, given your ambitious concept.

As everyone has noted, there's plenty of room to expand and improve as you put more time into the project -- I'd love to see some cool physics for turning walls/enemies into way and have them actually splash around in a satisfying way.

That's truly an unconventional weapon!! Very good , sir! The gameplay and puzzles were fun too! But the movement could be a little faster. Great job!

Was able to get my stuck in the level with some swapping :-) Great concept, a bit easy though.
