Controls:
WASD/Arrow Keys to walk, jump, and fall through... escalators (Don't ask)
Space to shoot
E to melee
Q and Z to use items

You can reload either by letting go of space when your ammo is empty or by pressing R at any time.

How To Play:
You are so hyped for this year's Ludum Con, but unfortunately, it looks like someone tried to open a portal to Mars. Now the entire convention center is full of aliens! Only you can close the portal and save the Con!

How to win: You have to hit the portal with your melee weapon




This game was made by me (Grant) and two of my friends (August and Harley). Harley did most of the art for the player and enemies, August did a lot of the scripting, and I did all of the environment art and helped out a bit with scripting. This is each of our first full Ludum Dare (I did a mini).

Sorry about the lack of any kind of (unconventional) weapon... We ran into some weird animation issues that we didn't have enough time to fix.. :(

interesting entry but didn't see how it was connected to the theme. there was also too much text to read mid-game explaining the game (like which type of weapon works on which type of enemy), the player can often get it with trial and error and there is no need to write it.

ah so cute! those melee only guys are op! Perhaps a bigger game screen, music, and some visual effects upon kill for improvement.

I enjoyed playing this! The amount of the level that you can see in front of you is a bit limited though, especially with the player always being in the center of the screen at all times -- this makes it difficult to see what enemies lie ahead. Expanding the view and letting the player move more quickly might be worth looking into.

Really challenging. I like the idea for the story but I didn't see a connection to the theme. Not a bad first entry! I hope your team keeps at it!

Well drawn and fun to play. The sword-only enemies were a little hard to avoid, but I liked the general gameplay regardless. Cool game!

This is quite good for a first time entry. The gameplay is pretty unforgiving, but I liked the art and the setting. Congrats on finishing!

Great game. Just a little hard. I love the graphis and the fx sounds. It would have been great to have music in the game.

Good amount of weapons and enemies, as far as I could see, because the game is pretty hard. I don't see any unconventional weapon though...

There should be some feedback when the enemies are hit. The graphics are nice but I don't see the unconventional weapon. Good job!

Ideally for controlling, I prefer to control the movement with one hand and attack with the other hand. Doing all of that with one hand is rather awkward especially when things get chaotic. Only my two-cents.
Fun little game overall.

I liked the weapon switch for the different enemies. Was hoping for more once you go through the portal but besides that it was a fun little game.
