Pong Tank by kirbytails7

[raw]
made by kirbytails7 for LD32 (COMPO)
Use a game of Pong as your weapon to traverse this Tube of Deadly Trapezoids!

Not my strongest work, but fine for 20 hours and three dimensions. Mostly I like the concept of playing one game as a means of input into another game, or playing two games at once.

Arrow keys to move paddles (each paddle moves in one direction and wraps around), and A/D or L/R click to rotate.

There are bugs. Oopsies. I'll fix anything game-breaking should something come up. I also can't comment on the Mac or Linux builds, as I can't test them.

Good game. And difficult controls. When left and right move all around to right is mind bending.

God I found this difficult, I do like the layering of mechanics though.

Neat idea, unfortunately the controls made it way too difficult for me. I liked the style and concept though!

Interesting. Kinda hurt my head trying to coordinate the paddles. I like that though.

I enjoyed the concept behind your game, but it was just a little too busy. If the pong field were only the two paddles, instead of four, it might have been easier to digest.

Great idea but It would be more fun and ergonomics with inverted control.
When you put right The tank go to the right and when you put up the tank go to the up.
Otherwise it's great concept ^^

This is a pretty good game, but you need to practice it to get good at it, it's quite difficult to master. But good game nonetheless :3

Interesting idea! I found the pong part a bit too hard because the paddles only move in one direction.

Using a game... as a weapon in another game. Good job. This is, much like Super Hexagon was for me, a very difficult thing to get into first-off. But I see the appeal in the difficulty and love how you've built it. Fantastic work!

Arghh!!!! This game is great. I almost smashed my keyboard into my monitor, so full score on the mood :D. I find it very difficult to play but the idea is fantastic!

God Job!

One of the hardest games here. Love it. Missed the music so much. Keep working on it.

Website is currently down. You should probably fix that. I can't play the web version nor download the windows version.

Wow, so many people! Thanks!
@ironleonem - I do agree about 2 vs. 4 paddles, but I want to test out the 4 paddle idea for another future game.
@Evergreen Games, @JoshuaBurr - Similarly, I want to test having movement in one direction. I suppose I hadn't just tried it both ways...perhaps that would be better.
@kikijin - I won't say that the current controls are great, but it was worse earlier. I had one button per paddle, and that was just awful.
@trappytrap92 - I am sad about having no music! =( I don't like blaming not having time as an excuse, but mid-Saturday I really ran out of motivation. I'm really glad people like it as-is, though!
@jacketsj - Uh-oh! It looks all right now...Thanks for letting me know.

Really enjoyed this one, one of the most clever uses of the theme I've found so far. Only thing I didn't like about it is that it made me realise how bad my coordination is. Would be interested to see a video of someone with skills play. Also agree with kikijin that the other control order might help. Definitely one of the games I've noted to play again later.

I really like this concept. Wrapping my head around the controls was a bit difficult, though. I believe this game would benefit greatly if you could control the paddles in both directions. As it is now, I might nudge one paddle a bit too far and then there's no chance of me catching the pong ball anymore because I need to loop the entire way around.
