RopeBox by Maato
RopeBox is a platformer where the goal is to reach the top of a tower. The player's jumping abilities alone will not be enough to reach the top. In order to gain more height you must use the magical ropebox.
---=== Controls ===---
z: jump
when holding ropebox:
x: throw ropebox
x+up: throw ropebox in a more upward arc
when not holding ropebox:
x: pull yourself up to the ropebox (when not holding it)
x+down: pickup ropebox
s: retract ropebox
---=== Notes ===---
There is not too much to this game, I mostly tried to get the platforming physics to be decent. There is only one enemy type (red circle) and there is currently no payoff for reaching the top of the level.
Performance of the web version is considerably lower than either the Windows or Linux specific versions, so if you get below 60 fps in the browser please consider trying one of those. If you are using Chrome/Chromium it might also help to switch to Firefox as the web version uses asm.js which Firefox optimizes.

I went right for those red circles thinking they were a goal or something and about died before I realized they were hurting me. Maybe make them more obviously 'bad', since they currently share the same color as the good things you're grabbing. (I didn't read your notes til after I played) Also audio feedback would fix this.
Would have loved a big room to just play around in and get a feel for the distances your throws go and what you can easily climb before entering the tower.
I really feel like if the box could become sticky and the controls really smoothed, it could be very fun even as some kind of action game.
There could be a tutorial to explain controls and practice a little bit. Has potential, it could benefit a lot for more control options, a remaping for xbox controller to aim and move with different sticks could work.
Great entry nevertheless, interesting.
