Timelock is a simple little puzzle game. My main goal was to do something small I could complete in a weekend so I don't distract myself too much from my main project. I didn't want to do anything with violence, so I struggled a bit with this theme. I decided that the 'weapon' was a combination of the players lack of skills, and the limited amount of moves the player gets to complete each level. (In reality I actually went with the second place theme - Companion... sorry!)

The gameplay revolves around moving a number of cubes through a level, where each one moves simultaneously. You have to guide them all to the exit with a limited number of moves.

The game was written in Unity. The source is uploaded, but you'll need to add Probuilder, PoolManager, InControl and DOTween if you want to run it. The source for all of my custom libraries are included, though most aren't used in this game.

I would have liked to get 20 levels created, but I ran out of time, so there's just 17. Various mechanics are introduced gradually throughout. I believe they do get pretty difficult towards the end though, so good luck!

SFX were done in LabChirp, and the music was done with cgMusic combined with Reaper and some VSTs for rendering the MIDI output.

Thanks for looking - I hope you enjoy it!

the game was great, but I think that is not in accordance with theme.

I also see no theme, but boy is this a great game! I wish I could play more. I also LOVE the music, but it doesn't loop for some reason.

Like the time limited nature of it. I missed that the R key resets at first - I know it says it at the start of the level but it'd be nice if that came back once the gates "close" and you've failed!

Great work man. The good: Graphics, music, sounds and simple but intuitive game design.

The bad: It'd be cool if level reset automatically when timer ran out, I missed the 'R to reset' prompt initially and was confused. Also I think the initial time frame is quite tight. I'd start out with much more time and reduce it as levels go higher. Great work though.

Great game, with interesting puzzles. I loved the levels where the starting orientation of the cubes was different.

Nice little puzzle game. One thing I think would have improved the feel of the game was to have movement be relative to the player rather than to the squares. Particularly on levels where I had to execute several moves having to turn to face the desired directions was very tedious. But otherwise well executed.

Polished presentation, peaceful music, nice work besides the theme.

A zoom option (mouse scroll?) and an auto-restart would be nice futures if you keep working on it. :)

Thanks for the comments all - totally agree on all the points, but I'm not sure if I can add stuff like that post compo without breaking the rules (primarily the R to reset prompt).

Will take a look at everyone's games shortly!

Hey man, love the puzzles in this game - properly mind bending. I'm really bad at puzzle design so pretty impressed with this! Presentation and audio are nice. Like others have said, a few prompts and option to zoom wouldn't be a bad thing!

What makes this game great is its simplicity. Well done.

It's a really good game, but I don't really see how it fits with the theme. The main menu was a bit annoying when it was rotating around with the mouse as well.
