Squirrel Defender by SoftCoconuts

[raw]
made by SoftCoconuts for LD32 (JAM)
Defend your tree from mean lumberjacks! You are a squirrel and must shoot away the evildoers with your winter supply of chestnuts.

Controls:
Left: A
Right: D
Shoot: Mouse click
Exit: Escape

Notes:
Ran out of time to implement everything I wanted. No sounds or animations, and still placeholder characters (I intended to do a really nice animated squirrel with multiple animated lumberjacks to add variety). Oh well, I completed my first LD! That is a success!

This music is a bit repetitive but I think it fits quite good the game.
Also I really like that you can get down the tree and push the lumberjacks to protect your tree ^^

The gameplay was fun, everything was going fine until 4 lumberjacks jumped me, and I think I lost? my tree lost all it's health and all that remained was like a piece of the tree and the squirrel. But it was good fun!

Hahaha yes, the win/lose conditions weren't quite complete yet. This was my first completed LD entry so I'm really happy with the result! Thanks for the comments guys! :)

Pretty good. The unconventional weapon being throwing acorns is alright however it's basically a bouncy bullet. The collision detection is inconsistent with a player's expectations sometimes and the lumberjacks don't seem to do anything once they get to the tree.

Nice game, but there isn't much skill involved.

The graphics had a charm to them, even if they were place holders, and the music was good. The arching nut attack was also nice and I liked the way they bounced off to the foreground/background. I know you ran out of time but it would have really benefited from a simple lose/restart when your tree is cut down.
