So, I decided this LD that I would make a fully functional online multiplayer game, and so I did.
Object of the game is to collect 10 crates, and stop the other players from doing so with a giant hammer. Why a giant hammer? Because I felt like it. (Also cause easy animations). Use WASD to control, mouse to look around, and left-click to swing your hammer. First one to 10 wins! Good luck :D
I wasn't able to enter text in the text fields for some reason, and of course no one was online, so I never actually got into the game. But I love the blocky art style in the screenshot!
No one was online so I had to open up 2 instances of the game. It's cool that you were able to make a multiplayer game but I had to play it with myself so I didn't get the whole experience. The graphics where pretty good but the controls were a bit strange as moving in different directions went at different speeds and the WASD keys moved you at diagonals instead of straight up and down or left and right. The crates took awhile to spawn in so there would be a lot of waiting and there isn't much to do in between collecting the crates besides sending people back to their spawn by hitting them with a hammer. Also I didn't understand you had to hit the person 5 times with the hammer to make them respawn until I tried it a bunch of times. It's impressive technically but unfortunately because of the lack of people playing and the slow gameplay it wasn't too fun to play in it's current state.
Fun concept being multiplayer, unfortunately with lack of players at time had to resort to a second browser instance. But overall looks great. Maybe an AI option if you are going to continue with this post compo?
Had to play Firefox vs Chrome (i.e. against myself), since unfortunately nobody joined for 10 minutes and I don't have that much time to spare. :P
First things first: Very nice, clean art style, even the menu looks really cool and tidy. The game itself might be a little underwhelming though - it's sure cool you managed to create a fully working multiplayer game in such a short time, so you certainly achieved your goal, but the mechanics are pretty simple and make the whole experience a little bland. Possibly a good start to something more exciting - with a few more weapons and vfx, as in more focus on action, I'd certainly have fun playing it again.
Nice graphics. The big hammer is funny. But it didnt know the other player back. I expected it to do so. Had to play it with myself. Single-Player option would be nice =)
but nice credits
