Tiny Thermopylae by Waschtl

[raw]
made by Waschtl for LD31 (JAM)
2500 years ago, 151 (300 are a lie!) Spartans faced the forces of Xerxes at Thermopylae.
Now you take control of those Spartans. With no victory in sight, you have to kill as many soldiers as possible. Use ultra advanced tactics like "Shield Down" or "Spear Throw" to kill those pathetic Xerxenian worms!

Controls:
(They are repeated in the game, just follow the tutorial!)

Use your mouse to select your Spartans (you know, like in the good old RTS-days)
Use "A" and "D" to move them left or right.
Use "1" to switch your shield stance. (Shields up against arrows, shields down against meele)
Use "2" to go into charge mode.
Use "3" to throw your javelins. (Don't forget to collect them afterwards!)
Use "4" to go into a defensive position (Good against those god damn horseriders!)

Made by Philipp Haderdauer (@vanHadedane), Thomas Terebesi (@ThomasTerebesi) and Sebastian Reuther (@Sebi_Reu).
Also a big thanks to Paul Redetzky (@PaulRdy) for the music!

Tweet us a screenshot if you are able to achieve more than 650 kills, because we doubt that is possible. :D

PLEASE NOTE: The HTML5 version has a few problems, so if you run Windows we recommend the .exe-file. ;)

I really like the game, ver fun and good system.
I am not sure, but in some minuts playing the movements became slower.

Really interesting game, unique mechanic, loved the historical references(I love me some Spartans). If I could esc past the instructions, I would book mark it and play it past the challenge. One of my favorites so far.

It would be better if the dead bodies despawn faster because it gets hard to see anything at the end.
The game itself feels like a nice little reaction game.
Maybe for later development you could implement levels and upgrades for the units.

Loved it, but struggled a bit with controls. Maybe moving to 1234QE would help? I think I'm too LD-lagged to play this properly still ;)

Neat idea, I love mythological games. It's pretty fun but the controls were a bit difficult for me, as was the fact that the spears didn't despawn so I couldn't see much. It was really fun though and I liked Xerxes' trashtalk. :p

Quite innovative! The game ran really slow for me towards the end. Probably from all the bodies staying on screen?

About perfomance: Yea, HTML5 does not run great with this, the windows client works better. (not great either)
