Super Snow Girl by Christina Antoinette Neofotistou
Note: tx everyone for the kind comments. I don't mind that it's unfinished, please don't assume I wanted to finish it.
Help SnowGirl, a snow golem back from the dead, reunite with her true love.
____
Controls:
Arrows - move
A - jump
S - punch
1 - undermine attack
2 - avalanche attack
______________
Not done obviously. Enemies spawn endlessly. Their attacks don't register. You can't die.
But it's a proof of concept I guess.
Photoshop CS5, construct2, FLstudio. Did all music, graphics, animation and coding (such as it is :P )
Had LOADS of fun working on this. Hope you dig
until next time
love

And to be honest I like the fact that your story involves women in a more mature way than the traditional bimbo clich茅. That's a nice change, thank you :)
Would love to play a more complete version of the game, hope you can develop it further.

Unfortunate that it's unfinished... but looks good so far.
Thank you for the game!
Great stuff!
Very impressive what you were able to do in the limited amount of time. I feel that if you further scaled down on the content you could really make a very well-rounded experience!
It's very nice though, it has a unique feeling that I enjoyed a lot.
The special moves were a cool addition as well.
Thanks.
The. Art. Is. Beautiful! Those cutscenes and character animations are top notch. It's a shame this didn't get finished, it looks very promising! :)
Hope you can find some time to work on it more Christina!~
Very well done!
The transition from the sad intro to the beat them up with super energetic music is kinda funny. :p

The game is merely incomplete (logically, because of the time you had), but you should at least had worked on the gameplay a little more. Good work otherwise, though.
The specials were also really cool!
I can see this becoming a really fun game. :)
Also +1 for Scott Pilgrim vibes ;)
So, here comes constructive criticism!
> Of course... Sliding on the floor is not ideal. Walk animation needed.
> No gameplay... You should have added in some life, that would have been the minimum requirement for a game to have any sense of direction and need to do something other than standing around.
> You shouldn't be able to move while attacking
> Try and keep the button count lower and closer together - you didn't need to use 1 and 2 for the other attacks, that made them unwieldy. You had so many keys around the ones you already use. Heck you should actually have...
> ... used combinations. Like down + punch = that burrowing thing. Or holding the punch button for 0.5 sec to activate the snowball.
> The snowball attack didn't suit this kind of game - stopping in the middle of attacks to pull and charge feels a bit off.
Yeah I think that's it. Just gotta be more game-y. I can see you're a good artist learning game dev, keep it up, the best learning comes from doing :) I started learning game maker for the first time 2 years ago :) Last Sunday during Ludlum Dare I released my first (smallish) game. It's been unreal :)
It's bad that is unfinished, because I wanted to play it until the end.
Overall, I like the game :)
Hope you get to finish next time :)
The art and music was fantastic and super polished. Great job!
The snow powers were both really cool. I'm partial to the bouncing snowball myself!
So jealous of your art skills!
However it's sad that the game isn't completly functionnal.
Good job!
The gameplay was smooth, and the special attacks worked well! Neat stuff.
Looks a lot like scott pilgrim vs the world.
Great job, thanks for sharing, and congrats on finishing!
Firs of all thanks everyone for checking it out
1. The art is not scaled down lineart, it's just unpolished pixelart. Or oekaki. At any rate, drawn at that size, for all it matters.
2. I totally see the scott pilgrim/paul robertson/o'malley resemblance. Never played the game myself, I totally love the look of it though, and completely adore the books and movie. Didn't mean to "rip" anyone off, this is just an experiment with completely underdone graphics, and besides I'm not making any money off it *or* using someone else's assets.
3. I'm not sad, not in pain, not unhappy, not regretting that this game isn't finished. As I'm not a coder, I learnt a ton in those three days: FSM enemy behavior, pathfinding, hitboxes, attack boxes and beat 'em up Z type movement. If this looks like a failed project to you, I don't mind. But it was awesome for me :)
Lots of love,
C
What it really has an uncanny resemblance to is Jonny Smeby's stuff.

Too bad I cannot win since I would have liked to know how the story ends. With more monsters/creatures, more stats/powers and content this would be fun to play through.
Pretty impressed with the music you made!
I guess great art/music comes with the cost of time
