Screen Protector is a simple, high score game where you play as a red dot who shoots black squares. What's your motivation? That's for you to decide. I knew I wouldn't be able to create anything visually stunning or uniquely intuitive but hopefully anyone playing Screen Protector will find it somewhat fun.

How To Play:
Shooting enemies will fill your level meter. Once the level meter is filled, the level will be increased. Enemies spawn more often and move faster each time you level up but are also worth more score. There is a max of 10 levels.

The Level meter goes down over time and if it reaches 0, you will revert back to the previous level. Leveling up will also make each box you kill add less to the level meter.

Each time you get hit by a enemies you will enter a short invulnerable state where you can't take damage. Get hit 3 times and it's Game Over.

Killing enemies will also fill your power meter. Once full, you can activate full power to mow down the evil boxes.

Controls:
W-up
A-left
S-down
D-right

Arrow Keys-Shoot

Space-Activate Power

Esc-Exit Game

I wish you wouldn't have opted out of audio, as that was a definite five starts according to me.
Music was simple and catchy, and the voice work was nice too.

All in all though, a nice little shooter game.

Fun enough for a little shooter. The three-hit thing is a bit much, I would prefer something more flexible (such as 3 hits within X amount of time to lose). The orthogonal shooting makes it difficult to utilize the powerup.

-Music! SFX! AND Voice acting! Nice :D
-Fun and hard :)
-Control scheme is a little awkward to grasp :(
-Very minimalist game mechanics, but it works :|
-Keep it up!

why opted out audio? I think Audio is really good. you should how ever make the sound little lower or the music little higher. good "voice" recording made it feels like a good arcade game.

also the fact that you use File>new reminded me of the good old days of PC games.

the game itself is fun, I think it get fast really fast, there are some stuff that you can make it even more interesting (as all LD games)

over all good job, I enjoyed it

SCREEEN PROTECTOR! :D
(I loved the sounds)

The game looked simple at a first glance but after playing for a while it was obvious that you put a lot of work into it. Everything from the particle effects to the smooth movement of the player made the game feel polished and fun to play.

This is pretty well made. The mechanics work well, and the voice acting is cool :p. The difficulty definitely ramps up quite quickly, which isn't bad, I just wish I had a larger window to be able to dodge out of the way of the squares. Good work though, it plays really well.

I could not see the power bars on my screen ( my screen is 1024x600 ). The game was still totally playable and I had a lot of fun during 8-10 plays. I think the invulnerability + disable shoot on hit is a good idea but it's very long and most of the time I end up loosing my 3x life in a row. Maybe shorten the no shoot time while keeping the same time for invulnerability would help player to stay in the game longer and benefit form their three lives.
The level up and leveldown jingle are fun but they repeat when your bar is full then go down again... Maybe forbid a leveldown 5 seconds after a levelup would solve this.
