Blipt in the Dark by PurpleApes

[raw]
made by PurpleApes for LD31 (JAM)
Help Blipt reachs the exit.
He glows but dark creatures lurk in corners and doors are closed!

It is a platform game which also use the front and the back of the screen ;)
You can move blipt through different layer, which emulate a very poor 3D feeling, with the up and down arrow, in order to reach the exit.

Does not feel finish, but I think everyone can say the same :)

But we enjoyed making it and hope you will enjoy playing it :D

I think the idea behind this can work (like in Mutant Mudds) but it needs good visual cues so the player can navigate through the level without hassle, but in its current stage... it's not very pleasant to play ^^; but I'm sure it can be improved.

Died while changing plans because I touch a wall on arrival (go from background to foreground, wall was on foreground).
Good start with the idea, you need to work on it more to get a good result :)

Nice start !

Nice concept. Had some trouble changing from foreground to background, etc. Still got quite far, though.

A very nice use of the theme- I liked the 3rd dimension in a 2D game aspect- It made for some interesting playing. You had to concentrate at some points to keep track of which layer you were on! Very innovative. nice job!

Very hard to tell what is going on or what I am touching. Could really use some sound and more visual feedback for interacting with things.

Quite glitchy, but I still like the gameplay :)

Interesting concept. It was confusing switching between foreground and background, but keep it up!

Very nice graphics but I had trouble playing the game. I ended up dying because I got stuck in a door :P

in all honesty it wasn't fun. but i do find it cool how you can change to different layers that was innovative. As for the theme it was great. love how blipt looks.

A little laggy for me, but it worked. Nice idea, I wish I had a better computer to test it really. :)

Good start - bugs stopped me from being able to play past first 10 seconds though :(

Innovative idea but the execution let it down a little. I would suggest removing the lighting/darkness effect - I think that hurts the gameplay and doesnt really add value. The 3 planes/layers is the innovative bit you got going on here, and that alone should be enough for a solid puzzle platformer to be built on. The player will benefit in being able to see it all. I reckon you can focus on just this layers aspect if you wanted to develop it further. Good job overall though.

Good game! A bit weird with determining whether or not you can switch levels, but I like the idea of putting multiple levels on one screen. Nice job!

I like your idea of switching layers to complete the platformer

Cool and small game. :)
The idea is interesting!

This feels very unpolished right now, the collision detection is very hard to grasp, there's no feedback when you take damage, and no real explanation when you are able to switch between layers. It's also really dark, which makes it tough to see the enemies before you are almost on top of them.
