Zombietron 2084 by svenardo

[raw]
made by svenardo for LD31 (COMPO)
It's 2084 and Zombies are everywhere. Your job is to take them out, and save the innocent people roaming around.

Edit: I've seen the comments saying it's scrolling... It wasn't designed this way as the levels should fit in one screen, but I've noticed that on highres displays something odd is happening, and the scaling gets wrong. This changes the dynamic, and is something I'm looking into. Thanks for playing :)

Fun! Pretty difficult to actually save people, though. Good job!

Interesting interpretation of one of my favorite games. Load time/restart time could be shorter, maybe? Nicely done overall!

Nice game, shooting with the arrow keys wasn't very intuitive though, would be better with a single key to shoot whichever direction the player was facing.

Those zombies are pretty tough. They swarm and take a lot of shots each. It wasn't clear to me that I had to actually touch the people to save them, so for the first few plays it seemed like the scoring wasn't working. Also I think if you kill all the zombies it should either wait for you to collect the allies, or just give you the points for them. Currently the level ends with them uncollected and you miss out. Since I couldn't figure out the scoring I actually ended up making a game within a game in that I was trying shoot all my allies while not killing any zombies. Just avoiding them. It was pretty challenging and a fun game of avoidance.

it was fun to play, but I don't see the theme in it.

After playing a while I also had a hangup in my browser. (using chrome, became unresponsive for a while, not sure what happened)

Not a bad little shooter, captures the classic arcade feel pretty well. Autofire would be nice, and the collisions sometimes feel a bit unfair, but good job :)

Lovely game. Great way of displaying controls/introduce the game (with the first level).

Hi there. Found it pretty difficult to survive. The screen kept resizing to be too big. The movement and sprites looked good. Shame there were no sounds (Chrome / W8.1)

Nice game, i think the scrolling is a bit too slow (it should keep the player in the center of the screen, because I can't really see where i'm going actually), and the hitbox are sometime too big. But it's still fun and nice to play !

It was cute this. I liked the pixel art, although I was getting a bit of slowdown when there were lots of zombies and things on the screen which was a shame. :( Fun though!

If there is audio I couldn't hear it. Holy carpal tunnel batman though, please let me hold down a fire key (or even the arrow keys) to shoot instead of having to mash them. :P

I'm also not certain how this related to the theme since it scrolled for me.

Lots of fun! Collision detection was pretty brutal. Some audio feedback would be helpful (it wasn't clear I was "saving" people until partway through the game). Good job!

The tight controls make up for awkward collision areas and while simple the mechanics are quite enjoyable and challenging, nice work!
