Last Defender of Tenochitlan by hypothete

The Aztec god Tezcatlipoca summons you to defeat conquistadors attacking Tenochitlan! Do your best to face the onslaught by using melee combat and mirror magic.

Unfortunately I ran out of time before I finished fleshing out the "folding screen world" concept. The idea was that the battlefield is actually an 1850s folding screen in colonial Mexico. but I'm still interested in critical feedback. The gameplay is a big departure from my usual fun (software toys). Thanks for taking a look!

The idea fits perfectly with the theme. I like color palette and the character design, it reminds me of an old tapestry. The controls could be smoother though

Wow, so this game truly feels unique with that folding-screen-mechanic-concept. The controls/combat was a little hard to figure out. Like the graphics :)

Hi there. Enjoyed the look of this. The combat didn't seem to work (Chrome/W8.1). Shame no sounds.

Really innovative concept that fits the theme well. The combat wasn't very fun, but I think if you explored the options of the folding screen with the combat more, it could be.

Great background art, and excellent use and integration of the theme!

Would have really enjoyed to see what you'd have made with time to polish up the combat.

Hmmm, interesting concept! It needs a fair amount of work before the concept can really shine, though. Maybe start out with a level that has only one or two enemies, then go on? Also, I'm not sure how much the folding and screen-moving is supposed to help. But I'd be interested in seeing this get continued!

(I've never even heard of an "1850s folding screen"...hmmm...)

I'm not quite sure I entirely understood it, but it was very cool visually, and it seemed like a good concept!

This concept is so unique, I'm impressed! The actual game-y parts /movement controls and so on/ could use a little tweaking, but congrats on achieving all of this! The art is really good, and the aztec theme is also a nice touch.
