Lethal Maze by martensms

[raw]
made by martensms for LD31 (COMPO)
This is my entry for the 48h Compo. The asset style is loosely based on Kenney's art style to match the other demos of lycheeJS.

Gameplay:

You are one of up to 6 tanks (3 in this level) that can battle each other in the maze. Each Tank has 4 Ammo and 4 Health Points, which means you need to pickup crates in order to refill ammo (if you have full ammo) health.

Multiplayer using binary p2p synchonized websockets, so there are multiple sessions. Use the console to find out more in the source variant. Player match-making done via idle detection.

The rainbow tank is the admin that can start/stop the server. You can play alone or with friends. The tank is automatically selected.

Also, activate the buttons on the map for more fun. I'm not gonna tell you what happens ;-)

Controls:
- Theoretically Tablet-ready, but I had no time to implement a UI for Tablets.
- Key Bindings are WASD or Arrow Keys + Space.

Missing Features:
- Better Menu UI to match the glassy style
- Trails behind the tanks on movement
- Better level design to fit more tanks on the screen, but somehow spiral-based so everyone has identical chances.
- Better UI to clear up things, currently it's auto-join based. It needs desperately a new UI for things like "Join random Game" or "Create own game"

Compatible Browsers:
Opera Beta, Chrome, Chromium, Iron (stable has sound issues :/), Firefox, Safari.
I have no Windows-System, so it "might" work on latest IE11.

Have fun playing! Synchronization issues should be fixed. If the server is completely overloaded, you can clone the lycheejs repo (development-0.9 branch) and start a LAN-party-ready server yourself :)

The post-mortem release will also ship with native binaries using node-webkit, v8gl and the lycheeJS' nodejs-sdl2 runtime.

lycheejs.org seems to be down, so I cannot rate the game as it stands.

This was awesome to see at the LD jam venue. Looking forward to challenging you to a game when its online again.

Not obvious how to play. Also some bugs (disappearing walls).

Tough at first, but cool afterwards.

The multiplayer didn't seem to be online when I tried it, so I couldn't play it.
