Pong Invaders by Zabuza

Pong Invaders!
This is my second Ludum Dare, and this time I didn't have very much time in my schedual to work on my entry, yet I managed to finish early and it has a clear objective this time! :D
The engine was written entirely from scratch and the only external library used was one for playing audio.

So the game is a cross between pong and space invaders. This means you need to keep a ball bouncing on the screen, shoot enemies, and not get hit.

Controls:
Left and Right Arrow Keys to move
Spacebar to shoot

Points:
Hit the Ball: +5
Damage an enemy: +1
Drop the ball: -25

Cool concept. The bullets had a bit too much homing ability, and I'm not sure what the penalty for dropping the ball is. Things seemed to show up outside of the window boundaries as well.

I like the approach to the theme of doing a mash-up of classic single-screen games. Appreciated the inclusion of music. I don't really feel like the design made the most of the idea, though; instead of having pong and invaders interact in neat ways, it really just felt like I was playing two games overlaid on top of each other.

Great music and art. Love the mash up concecpt. The gameplay needs a bit more to make it fun and non repetitive, but a great start for 48 hours.

this is great, the controls are fluid, the sound and graphics great, and the game is pretty fun. a few little bugs such as the paddle being far larger than the ship looks visually and common things like the ball snapping upward even when it hits the bottom of the ship but nothing gamebreaking.

An interesting combination of genres. I thought it was a little easy, but given that I'm older than both Pong and Invaders I grew up playing both games..

The music was perfect for the game.

Wow, cool idea! I liked the triple-tasking. Great sound and graphics as well. Any variety with enemies would have kept my playing even longer. Good work! I'll add an extra star because you wrote your own engine as well.
