Death in front by Flattened Tesseract Games

[raw]
made by Flattened Tesseract Games for LD31 (JAM)
Death in front is a game in which you are the last survivor of a zombie apocalypse (a big cliche). You must fight the 500 zombies that are still alive. Good luck!

You get a spoon as a weapon to begin with and then you get a gun after you killed 10 zombies.

You should hear an 'UGH!' sound when a zombie is hit and an 'OW!' sound when you're hit.

Controls:
WASD/ZQSD/arrow keys to move
F to toggle flashlight
click to attack(you should be close to a zombie when using the wooden spoon)

Bugs:
-The gunshot collision detection doesn't work properly so you are kinda stuck with the score 10 :/
-Attacking does not work on some computers (maybe it's the browser). I'm trying to fix this

Couldnt actually hit anything.
Graphics are also pretty bad.

@rabbit I know, i'm a newbie in gamedev. I'm horrible at making music. You should get closer to the zombies and 3 spoon hits should kill one

I can only hear the sound of the spoon weapon. I never kill any zombies with it. I tried 2-3 times.
The light mask is cool. And the zombi walk/collision system seems good too. I wish I could kill some zombies to see more of it.

Obeys the theme for the event, which is a plus, and I marked you up on humour for the wooden spoon idea! That was amusing :)

EXACTLY the weapon I would choose in a zombie apo...cal... ...No, actually, it really isn't, lol!

Cool game! It's kind of funny to see the big grin on my lonely survivor. It starts a bit slow, but then the zombies come in fast! I wasn't able to make it to the gun stage.
It was not always clear when the spoon landed a hit or missed, and when I was hit. Perhaps you can use more sound and visual effects to give feedback?

Overall it was a good attempt at a zombie survival game. :) There is ample room for improvement, however. I think the biggest thing should make it obvious whether or not I've hit a zombie. Also, if I've missed, show me where I *would* have hit if I did.

I also couldn't attack. Maybe I'm missing something.

It now should register the first mouse click as LMB (maybe different browsers have different button codes... you never know)

@Mokosha I'm adding an 'ow' sound when you're hit and an 'ugh' sound when a zombie is hit

The controls are really unresponsive, it takes a while before it registeres the input. If you fix that this can be a really fun game.
I liked the music and the graphics :)

Nice try, I like the idea, I like the light, but yeah, the rest wasn't great. Still, let's see how you can make things a bit better.

Firstly, add some better feedback. A slight bump back if you hit a zombie would be good enough, at least you know you've hit then. I know the sound is also feedback, but it's less obvious.
Secondly, work on the graphics, and usually, especially for programmers, less is more. So maybe, instead of weird-looking grass, just use a solid darker green. It gets the point across, but it just looks better. Using more abstract art, especially for programmers, usually works well.
Don't worry too much about the sound, hell, you had more sound than my entry!

So yeah, keep going, keep trying, try to get a bit of a feel for what looks a bit better, and you'll be golden!
