UPDATE: Added version for Mac OS X!
UPDATE 24.12 - Dear friends! We know it's difficult to check out our entry when no one else is playing. We'll be online to play with you from 5p.m. GMT till 6p.m. GMT.
UPDATE 25.12 - If you want to play and there is no company, drop us a line at play@tangiblegames.com and we'll arrange some time to play! And look for the magic counter in the middle of the page!
Welcome!
We hope you will enjoy our second Ludum Dare entry, "Versus", and hope our servers will hold...
Because "Versus" is a multiplayer-only online action strategy game! Game, where players battle one against the other in the arena (well, it looks more like an island) using cannons and commanding giant monsters!
Each player has a fort with a powerful cannon installed as a means of offence. They also control a monster, a terrible beast, who, strangely, cannot attack, only move across the land.
Monsters are surprisingly useful when it comes to gathering, say, powerups. Regrettably, when monster dies, the game is over, and cannons do serious damage to poor beasts.
So, players have to move their monster in a way that allows them to evade enemy fire, at the same time attacking enemy monster.
Here things get complicated, because, while monsters follow orders precisely, they can't improvise.
To move a monster, player switches to a "walking" mode and clicks the field to set up waypoints. Once waypoints are set, player switches to the "shooting" mode and naturally starts shooting. Monster will follow the path forth and (nice touch) back indefinitely, or before he gets new orders.
And yes, "Versus" is an ONLINE MULTIPLAYER game. Meaning, you have to find friends to play or tweet and share our entry to attract others to our download links.
Matchmaking is automatic, so if there are other people somewhere around the world willing to play, the game will start automatically once you click "Play" (allow 10-20 seconds for connection initiation though).
However, if you want to play with a friend, there just is such an option! Look for the file named "Secret Key" in the game's folder. By default it contains the word "WORLD1", meaning everyone can play with each other.
You can change it to some other name, like, say, "tinfoilcaps". If there are just two people in the world with that secret word on file, our smart server will create a match exclusively for you two! You can play with friends that way, just don't forget to change your secret key back to "WORLD1" if you want to play against everybody else.

Chances are higher to get an Android or iOS version, but there we may need to work on assets to save some RAM.
Did you install everything that is inside the "Install first" folder? It could help. Regrettably, we did not test the game on Windows XP... And 32 bits.
If you have a friend who can start the game simultaneously with you, challenge him/her, it's actually fun!
You just need another player who will press "Play" on his side. So, if you are all alone in the world who wants to play "Versus" at the current moment (and we don't have /that/ many players), you are out of luck. Find a friend and try again or drop us a line at play@tangiblegames.com and we'll set up a match just for you!
Thanks, we again tried to get a 'complete' game, and lots of stuff that we planned didn't get into it.

@Mach60KAS
Thanks!
Yes, there is that problem with matches getting too long because of the powerups, but often they end very soon - max damage of the well-placed hit is 25HP, so 5 straight hits kill unarmored monster.
Music and more sounds - wish we had a few more hours to add them!
(I haven't rated) Sorry!
We'll be playing online pretty soon, watch the counter ;)
Also, we can play at any (well, quite often) given time if you drop us a line at play@tangiblegames.com
