Love the game! Graphics are lovely, gameplay is solid, and theme interpretation is a nice touch too! I would have played much more if there were more levels.

A really great metroidvania which fits perfectly the theme. The powers are fun to use, checkpoint are cleverly placed, difficulty is well balanced. Awesome work on pixel art. Too bad there were no musics...

This is something of a masterpiece! Saw your post on the blog and it would be a shame if this game doesn't get the attention it deserves. It's fun, cleverly designed, a good interpretation of the theme and has some really nice plays on classic video games. It's also mega man-hard, but in a good way. Managed to beat it but without unlimited lives I think it would be almost impossible.

My only beefs with it is the lack of sound and music and that you used shift as button to change weapons/items. This made windows prompt me about 'sticky keys' several times. This function can probably be disabled quite easily but I think it would be smoother if you'd used another key.

Nice graphics, smooth platforming, and awesome idea. What more can you ask for? Well, besides sound.

That was fun! The game yearns for sound though. Still, I had a good time, and had a good laugh at the end! Nicely done.

Really cool medroidvania-style game, played it to the end. The lack of music/sounds really thinnens the experience though.
I had some gripes with it, namely the Shift key as the inventory cycle button (some alternative would have been nice), and the bug that you have to stand still for the shield to work, because when you walk towards the projectile you will still get hit, even with the shield up.

The boss-fight also was a bit of a hassle, cycling through all the items in time and selecting the right one etc.
I think instead of giving the player always new items, you could just incorporate the powers into the controls (The balloon could be double-jump, and shield could just be down-arrow...), that would make the controls more user-friendly.

Still, good job!

I got super-stuck on that last lava jump... phooey. Your checkpointing is good and I love the way you keep expanding the world, with great graphics. The animation for the disappearing blocks is especially satisfying--well done. The one thing I'd say is that it was really disorienting every time the level changed... maybe you could do something like keep Mr. Fish the same size while the level changes around him, and then shrink him down to size, just to give us some way to visually orient ourselves on the new screen? Otherwise, great game, and I'm very curious to find out how I was supposed to get across that lava portion X3 Thank you!

Awfully fun!
Switching between items was a bit cumbersome, especially during the boss battle where you need to it do it fairly quickly, but I did like the different items.
Mr.Fish's walking animation made me laugh for some reason.
