Deep Breath by Crumpet

[raw]
made by Crumpet for LD31 (COMPO)
While going for the whole (maybe predictable) thing of fitting the whole game on one screen, I decided that I would also have the theme "Entire game in one scream", because that's a more inspiring theme to me.

Necromancers are beings whose powers over the living and the dead hold almost no limits. In fact, the only real limit is that they can only cast one spell a day.

Meet Lilith. She found a loophole. She just casts very long spells after taking a very deep breath.

Inhale deeply, enthrall the populace, challenge authority, and find out if you're a bad enough dudette to kill the President.

CONTROLS:
-WASD/Arrow keys to move
-Left click to fire
-Space to breathe
-Esc to quit
-F4 to fullscreen
-F9 to screenshot

The game hit some poor framerates during development at a time when I was accidentally running 15 copies of Chronolapse. If the game does lag too much for you, let me know and I'll get off my lazy butt to make a version for slower machines :) The same offer applies if someone wants to test this on a screen smaller than 1080 x 800 (do those even exist?)

Necromancers > everything else. This is so fun, enthralling people and killing enemies feels so satisfying, and the gameplay is smooth and responsive. My only real gripe is that it kinda doesn't match the theme as well as it could have, but I'll let that slide because it wasn't a great theme. The music on this is absolutely top-notch, and the graphics are really sweet. Nice job, I'd like to see more games like this!

Wow, really impressive entry!
Besides the awesome gameplay, there's like a full soundtrack in here. Unbelievable.

Very impressive entry, Feels realy polished, Graphics are nice, controls and movement feels very fluid. I love the sound effects and the different aspects to the game. However it feels like the game can get quite repretative after a short while but this can be fixed by future development, Fantastic entry. such a shame it doesnt fit within the theme.

Pretty fun. But after several plays it is clear that I am not a bad enough dudette to kill the President T.T

It was pretty fun, though the sound of incantation is terrifying, had to play with muted sound. The idea of a deep breath is good and gameplay is quite addictive. And implementation of the theme is not the best

This is a fun, fast-paced game with an interesting take on the theme. You are an excellent musician to create such professional-sounding music in just two days! This game definitely deserves five stars for Audio.
