SnowTiles by gamedevBear

[raw]
made by gamedevBear for LD31 (COMPO)
I wanted to fit the theme by maximizing the amount of "game" in one screen, so I made a simple puzzle game that rearranges itself.

Warning: puzzles get very difficult after the tutorial, without much in between.

WASD / Arrow keys = move

BONUS KEYS!
Spacebar - reset
0 - Skip tutorial

Edit: added a link to solutions (spoilers!)
Edit2: fixed the issue with resetting all the way back to level 1, as it was making the harder levels unplayable

Very inventive. Love the unique gameplay. However, not much of an explanation or intro to the game. Could use a bit of an intro.

Great idea! I love really love this concept. I did get pretty stuck really quick though. I think a little more love to the level designs and you've got yourself a winner.

I wish the puzzles weren't so difficult.

Incredibly inventive gameplay, the sort of thing that can get out of hand incredibly quickly!

Love the idea of moving the blocks. Graphics could use a little work though.

Very original gameplay, nice work! As you said, the curve is pretty steep, though.

Good, hard, puzzle and good use of the theme.

It's a bit annoying though when you end up locked in an island and can't move at all.

It was alright.... Although I stopped playing after I realized restarting a level takes you back to the beginning

It's a very good concept for a puzzle game, that def needs some polish. Good puzzles are hard to nail in a game jam, as they usually need time to design properly (I learned that one the hard way). But this is very cool. Well done.

Excellent mechanic! I really like this gameplay. But, as was mentioned, its a hard :). I have not enough RAM in my brain to build correct chain of actions :). But idea is brilliant. Maybe you can make a version for mobile with smaller map, better graphics and a bit easier and more concentrated level design(without unused tiles).

Awesome puzzle game! The tutorial levels were set up nicely, and it was very unique! I really had to think to finish the puzzles.

There was a huge spike in difficulty which you already knew about, and I wish there was some indicator of how far along in the game I was. (Out of how many levels for instance)

Dudos on using the snowman. :)

Hi there. Like the music and sounds, love the shuffle effect between levels. Would be good if spacebar reset just the current level not everything - or some other way to get out of stuck. Good job!

Very interesting puzzles!! Kudos! I think I completed the first 5 or 6 then it became tough and time consuming.

I wonder how'd you made them (individually or generated)?

This is a very interesting puzzle mechanic. I like it. It creates some very interesting (and super difficult) puzzles. Couldn't finish it, but well done.

Really challenging and fun. Great use of the theme! The spinning blocks tile was a really mind bending mechanic and it really took me a while to get past some of the puzzles. Really great concept, fantastic work!

The game idea and execution was great, graphics I'm torn between, very nice and arcade-y. The tile movements were fantastic. Audio very basic, but enjoyable. :)
