The MANT Experiment by AlbertoSM

[raw]
made by AlbertoSM for LD31 (JAM)
(UPDATE MESSAGE) - I added a "fixed" version with minor updates like the option to restart the game from the Game Over screen and the actual "random generation" I speak of in the description. Feel free to try either versions! :)

----------------------

- SYNOPSIS -
You have been selected to take part in the MANT Experiment, where you will be shrunk to the size of an ant and will be put to a test, where you need to collect as many provisions as possible in 30 seconds! All of this, inside a real ant-size ant farm (?)! So, congratulations, I guess?

- CONTROLS -
Move around with the Arrow Keys, Jump with the UP arrow key, and change your camera view with C.

- GAMEPLAY -
You have 30 seconds to get as many provisions as possible.

You'll find doors with different colors (magenta, blue and green). These doors are one way only, so plan your movements carefully!

The levels are randomly generated so feel free to refresh and try the game again! My top score is 27 provisions, try to top that! :P

(I hope you guys forgive the iffy collision detection at times :P)

Just a nice looking plattformer, and i see no random generation, you have spoken of.

Art was pretty good looking and movement was good except jumping didnt always register. But it was over so fast :/

The ant farm idea is fun.

The controls feel a bit awkward in regard to jumping/sliding.

You might consider adding a retry button since I could not find a way to retry without reloading the webpage.

A nice fun, simple game! I especially like the animation when you go into and come out of the portal!

Nice! I also created a platformer in Unity for this LD. Funny how the same engine can create so many differnet feels.

Really fun, maybe some things like the "portals" are weird at first, because you can't go back, but now I know it for the next run :D

Could be pretty fun if you tightened up the collisions and jumping a bit! I felt like I wasn't always able to jump on command.

Also, I like that you can keep replaying the randomly generated level you get, but it would be nice if I could generate a new one with an in-game button (rather than reloading the whole page).

Nice platformer, fun game.
The music is good and you respect the theme.

Sometimes the characters not jump correctly and some collisions not work properly.
The timer is quite short, but it's the difficulty of the game.

Overall nice, but I did not think it followed the theme :(

Nice visuals and sound. I liked the animation and controls seemed good. Turning a man into an ant seems very unantural :)

Smooth controls and good gameplay just a little short would have liked to play a little longer :)

I like the music.
The controls aren't very smooth, I had a hard time navigating the level.
Also I trapped myself in a dead-end...

Jumping is a bit iffy but its a fun idea! Wacky sounds too!

The collision detection and jumping mechanics could use a bit of polish, but on the whole this is an interesting concept with potential for expansion post-competition.

Nicely polished music and graphics. Interesting game mechanism (doors and map unzoom).
Getting all the chicken legs in one row seems impossible but I guess the goal is to make a good score.
The controls are ok, but sometimes jump doesn't work when you move.
