At least the player is stationary and most of the game is usually in the players field of view. Also inspiration came from pong and blobby volley which are both games in one screen. But in the end just vote whatever you think of my interpretation of the theme. In my opinion I am not totally off, but there surely are much better interpretations."},{"author_name":"nuqu","author_uid":"47189","time":"Dec 29, 2014 @ 10:03am","epoch":1419847080,"text":"Very cool, I am really looking forward for the VR experience in the future, keep it up!"}],"images":["ld31\/35658-4b8cb2ddfdbccf24f5aaeffa57e983c9.jpg","ld31\/35658-be97927e077bb9b0979acc0a77bd460e.jpg","ld31\/35658-c0d7f87160abed95926a2ad370aa86f7.jpg","ld31\/35658-40ca76ce66d4ddae65384556eb92e87c.jpg"],"links":[{"url":"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2GzsrAY2e2M","text":"Video 1"},{"url":"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7aw0IBzp4Ww&feature=youtu.be","text":"Video 2"},{"url":"http:\/\/cld.slindev.com\/Ys8u\/download\/VludumdaRe.zip","text":"OSX"},{"url":"http:\/\/cld.slindev.com\/Yszl\/download\/VludumdaReWinV1.zip","text":"Windows"},{"url":"https:\/\/github.com\/Slin\/LD31","text":"Source"}],"metadata":{"g_key":"14464","g_author":"35658","g_event":"LD31","g_eventkey":"26","g_subevent":"JAM","g_urlkey":"14494","g_title":"VludumdaRe - Blobby Volley VR or something like th","g_status":"UCHK1","g_place":"122","g_commentcount":"19","g_site2_node_id":"0","g_hide":"N","g_has_icon":"Y","g_rqueue":"0","g_random":"0"},"nds":[],"node":null,"orig_images":["http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/407933\/35658-shot0.png-eq-900-500.jpg","http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/407933\/35658-shot1.png-eq-900-500.jpg","http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/407933\/35658-shot2.png-eq-900-500.jpg","http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/407933\/35658-shot3.jpg-eq-900-500.jpg"],"text":"Before the theme announcement I decided to do something with the Oculus Rift and Razor Hydra, so with that set in stone I got inspired by the picture showing Pong that was tweeted along with the theme announcement. Problem is that 2D pong in VR is hardly working and fun, so I decided for a Tennis like VR experience.\r\nThere are no rules and the opponent always gets the ball and tries to play it back to you. One controller is used to throw the ball and the other one to move the racket.\r\n\r\nThe players position as well as the racket an ball positions are absolute real world positions as provided by the oculus rifts position tracking and the hydra. The hydras positioning unfortunately has quite some distortion in it due to the way it works, which causes the hand positions to still be quite a bit off from the real positions, but it still works pretty good. The coordinate systems between the rift and the hydra are synchronized by moving one of the controllers to your right ear and pressing its start button.\r\n\r\nShadows can be turned on by initializing everything by pressing s instead of spacebar, but unfortunately they cause some performance issues on OSX Yosemite.\r\n\r\nThis is mostly just a prototype for my own entertainment, but I may port it to Windows if I get the Rift working there.\r\n\r\nI got lots of help with the models which where created during the jam by Simon (@lo__xl )!\r\n\r\nRequirements:\r\n- Razor Hydra\r\n- Oculus Rift DK2 (might kinda work with DK1)\r\n- Windows or OSX 10.9+\r\n\r\nTechnology:\r\n- Rayne (selfmade 3D game engine)\r\n- Oculus SDK\r\n- Sixense SDK\r\n- Bullet Physics\r\n- OpenGL 4.1\r\n\r\nWe made this a #NoStressLDJAM, so the project is rather small :).\r\n\r\nIf you don\u00b4t own the required hard- and software check out the videos linked next to the download!\r\n\r\n\r\nEdit: I added windows support! For some reason the introduction and setup texts made it crash, so for now they are disabled. Setup is a bit easier than on OSX anyways:\r\nJust make sure your rift and your hydra are connected, set your rift to extended mode and start the game. The hydra controllers should be placed onto the base and the bases cables should point away from you.\r\nShadows are always enabled on windows.\r\n","title":"VludumdaRe - Blobby Volley VR or something like that."}
