Lich Lordz by imaginarymonsters
HEADS UP ABOUT WEB VERSION! It's currently buggy (unreliable collision detection, some audio stacking up and sounding bad) so I recommend trying out the pc installer if you have the time. Going to try fixing it if I can. Thinking I need to use some collision_line checks on my bullets...also you may want to make sure your audio is turned low in case sound effects spike on you. Regardless, it is still playable and beatable.
You are a lowly hedge wizard in the service of the Lich Lord. Tonight at midnight your master decided to have a bit of fun...with your life on the line!
Fire your spells quickly and destroy 100 beasts to please the Lich Lord so you can survive another day.
Robert Mostyn did the chiptune soundtrack. Check out his Bandcamp! http://bclikesyou.bandcamp.com/
Overall, I'm glad with how the game turned out. A little rough on the edges in places and I would have liked to get more character and enemy animations in. This is the first time I've done a top down engine, so that took most of my time setting up. Luckily I got a lot in last night. By Saturday I only had the player and hand placed eyeball spider enemies in the room with busted effects. A lot changed in the last day!
I made Lich Lordz in Gamemaker, and it seems like audio is working in Chrome again? That's a plus! Pixel art made in Photoshop. Sound effects from bfxr (borrowed from a set I made for Halloween Forever!)
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. : ]

if you have some time also check my project mate x)
Some more stages/waves of enemies and a powerup or two and this would have been perfect!

Actually the web version had a second problem for me as well that you can see in that screenshot. It was too tall. This might have been okay because I could position the scroller to see the whole game area (tho that would mean I couldn't see my hearts) except that for some reason when I moved upward in the game area past a certain point it would for some reason scroll my browser window up and you'd see what you have in that screenshot: not all of the game area in the visible window.
One nice touch you had was the way the character gets visibly dark when he's on the verge of death, that really helped especially when I couldn't see my hearts!
You might consider putting the warning about the web version higher in the description.
Awesome job with the graphics!
Thanks for the heads up on those! Sorry if any ears got zapped in the process of playing ; _ ; now that I'm getting past the jam-hangover from this weekend I'm going to see if I can patch out some of these web issues. Will definitely move that warning up!
But be carefull, only one spawn area made the game too easy...
